Tintagel Winds Labradors

Tintagel Winds Labradors Dedicated to the most perfect breed in the canine world, to my 43 years of breeding and to my 69 years' love affair with Labradors And the rest is history!

I fell in love with labradors at the age of 7 when on holiday on a yacht. I couldn't believe that this wonderful black friend who followed me from deck to cabin was "only a dog" and though in hindsight he was probably physically a fairly ordinary chap - for me, knowing nothing of the standard, he was PERFECTION ! That was in 1951 and it wasn't until 1975 that I acquired my first labrador. I set ou

t to find a replica of "Mon Dog" (his real name !) and came up with a yellow bitch from a pet shop in King's Lynn. Her "pedigree" was full of "Sandringham" typed in red ink but when it came to the crunch she turned out not to be registered with the Kennel Club and to have very severe hip dysplasia. According to the vets she would have to be put to sleep before becoming adult, and so the quest was on for finding a "replacement" in order to stem the children's tears. Being more intelligent the second time around I did some serious homework before finally settling for a top class breeder and getting Ballyduff Sunflower from Bridget Docking in 1977. Still hankering after the elusive memory of my first love and feeling that a black dog would not be one too many as we were already a two-bitch family (that's not counting me) with three small children; thanks to Bridget I found Kupros Lucifer at Peter and Marion Hart's kennel. His sire was Squire of Ballyduff.

Cachi inaugurated today the new kennel - new being hardly the correct word as the metal panels have been part of other kennels wherever I’ve lived for 40 years! I saw no point in taking Cachi with me to take back the rental car and pick up my VW Caddy, now “mended”, on a 340 km round trip.
