The good stuff :

Jip is happy, healthy and has recovered very well from her injuries after a marter attack. In her mind she is ready to go back to the rest, but we will leave her out with Esmee until all her wounds are healed and all feathers are back. But she made it, the cuty pie.

Also: after the loss of F***y, we now seem to have a wee egg..... Are we to have baby doves??? Is one girl maybe not so much a girl???? To be continued

Ik had wat houten haspels gekocht voor een parasol project bij ons en zag toen een kleintje die wat plankjes misste. Ik bedacht dat dit mischien wel eens een leuk hokje kon zijn voor ons eenbenig meisje Esmee. Ze zit snachts veilig bij de rest in het nachhok hoor, maar dit is voor jaar eitjes, schuilen en zo overdag. Ik moet het nog bewerken, kiertjes en zo, maar ze schijnt het al goedgekeurd te hebben 😊 kan ik de tijdelijke en lelijke oplossing weg halen.....

This morning we went to Montlucon to pick up some wooden cable drums for my parasol project.... On the way home we saw an injured buzzard on the road. Just two days ago I caught an injured kestrel to take it to the vet, but John had to kill it because it was too far gone. Heartbreaking. John caught the buzzard today and we tried again. It looked like there was a good chance for this bird. That would have cheered us up a fair bit. I called around and we ended up driving nearly an hour each way drop it off at a hospital for wildlife. The buzzard is sedated and bandaged up until the vet arrives and can decide if he/she can be rescued. Prognosis is not so good. We keep our chins up knowing that at least we care and try. We will find out. We will also find out if my parasols project will work....

Wtf? When I went to secure the chooks for the night I found a white dove roosting with them.... At first it sat along the rest on the front perch, but when I came back from getting my camera, it had moved to the back. Somehow very moving..... Wow... Just like that...

After a work accident at the end of August, a stinnt in hospital in October due to a staphylococcus infection, followed by some physiotherapy, I am finally able to get back to work. I have to take it slightly easier still but I can at least use my knee again and drive. If you need a hand with your Animals, do give me a call on my Mobil phone.

Après un accident de travail fin août, un séjour à l'hôpital en octobre pour une infection à staphylocoque, suivi d'un peu de kinésithérapie, je peux enfin reprendre le travail. Je dois encore y aller un peu plus facilement, mais je peux au moins réutiliser mon genou et conduire. Si vous avez besoin d'aide avec vos animaux, appelez-moi sur mon téléphone portable.

A lot of my work is mucking out Stables. A lot of it. Unfortunately this is causing mega back aches at the moment. But fortunately though, except for at 1 place, I also get to really care for animals. Lovely boys like these make it all worthwhile. At home we now also have some extra caring to do. One of our chickens, wee Flo, has a sore foot so she has her feet washed and treated every night. She seems to be getting better.

My last post was posted just as I went out to work so I never noticed that the horse photos never loaded. Lets try again. Look at these lovely ones. The foal in the picture is with her dad. She is such a daddy's girl and I think it's great that the wee family is living together. She is gorgeous and sweet. She hurt her mouth but lets us treat her so well. The white really skinny horse is very much loved and well cared for but he is just a very old man

My daily job... Sometimes I forget (as one does) but I am a lucky bum. Lovely horses and a murmuration at sunset. The sound in the video are Grue, Kranes, flying over too but I couldn't catch them on camera

Next Thursday, November 1st 2018, I will celebrate my 1st anniversary as an Auto-Entrepeneur in France. It's been a great year where I met some lovely animals, and their owners. And I hope I get to continue enjoying this for quite a few years more.

However, in this first year I have experienced how the nature of my business meant that I spent too much time travelling whilst not earning an income. Per example: in September I had some long working days, 11 hours while only earning an income for 8. This despite all clients involved being so kind & flexible and allowing me to work out the best time tables and routes.

Although I feel blessed that I managed to turn my passion into a job: I still have bills to pay and our own animals to care for. On top of that the contributions I have to pay will increase as per next week. Hence I have to change my tariffs a little bit and add a KM charge.

The first 10 KM of the total travel distance (back & forth) will be free but anything over that will, as from November 1st 2018, be charged at 20 cents per KM.

There is also a small change in hourly rates which will now be 14 euro per hour and only be lowered to 12,50 euro per hour if I work 4 hours or more.

Of course these changes do not apply to short jobs I have already accepted and started under the old agreement.

I do hope you will understand that I had to make these changes and I still get to look after your precious animals/ pets.

Quintin and Etoile, they had a bit of a rough life we reckon before they were taken on by my client who cares for them so very well. They are not very trusting but I am working on it and making progress. They are looking great and I can already touch their noses and give them treats from the hand.... Love 'em. It's a great job.

When your passion is your work you are really lucky. I am lucky. A new client with some really lovely horses is a pleasure to work with.
