Yesterday i paid a visit to Bonnie …. ♥️
Bonnie stopped walking with us a few months ago as she was losing her sight and wasn’t coping well with the long walks anymore. We walked Bonnie for years and built such a strong bond with her, so much so that I still keep in touch with her lovely owners ♥️
She can barely see now but once she heard my voice and gave me a sniff, she went mental 😂😩♥️
We love and miss you Bon! Xx

Some photos from the last few weeks …. Sorry we haven’t been as active, It’s been manic - welcoming new pups on board, settling dogs in with their new walkers and numerous cat visits.

Our little pumpkin Dexter living his best life this morning! 🧡🧡🧡
As you can see he is also wearing his apple air tag provided by Herts Hiking Hounds….. a new benefit of being with us is we are starting to put trackers on all pups that walk with us …. Mainly on the youngsters for now but we aim to have all dogs covered by the end of the year 😉
As always, your dogs safety is our number one priority 🧡🧡🧡

He joined Mel and her gang this morning for the first time and got on so well with the others. Shout out to Rua, Tizer and Jim for making him feel so welcome ♥️

Happy Friday everyone!
We’ve had a busy fun packed week…. Walking a few adhoc dogs and welcoming on board new pups…. Winston (1st pic) and Hugo (pictured with Ralph 2nd pic).
Both did amazing with Sarah B and Mel ♥️ We can’t wait to get to know them even better ♥️

Happy weekend everyone!
It’s been a great week apart from the heat and mega early starts 😂 but as always your dogs safety is our number one priority ♥️ We’ve had cat visits, and welcomed on board two newbies …. Nellie and Pumpkin! Sarah B will be walking them weekly…. We can’t wait to get to know them more and integrate them more into our ever growing family 🩷 (we will have more photos of them next week)
Also our new paddle and picnic date will be on Sat 7th Sept … please drop me a message if you’d like your pup to attend 🥰

A very sad post here but my friend is looking to rehome her lovely girl Kali. I personally know Kali, she has been out walking with us before and she really is such a special girl. Please see below information from her owner….

This is by no means easy to write however, it has come to the time where I need to find my girl a new home due to my dogs not getting along. This really is a last resort.

Kali is a 3 year old female pocket bully. She is an incredibly loving dog. Everyone who meets her loves her. She loves to offer her paw to shake your hand. She loves to walk for miles and is obsessed with sticks. She also loves swimming. She is obedience trained and her recall is good. She is strong and does pull on the lead sometimes, so needs someone who can handle this. She is reactive in certain situations usually involving cats/balls although have been working on this. Absolutely food obsessed and will do anything for treats. She does not like having her nails cut and is timid with any loud noises/shouting. She is okay on car rides. She is also okay with being home alone for periods of time and is crate trained. She is toilet trained but in new situations tends to hold her wee for long periods of time until she figures out where she is or until she can’t anymore.

She has had 1 litter and was spayed immediately after. Unfortunately, during her pregnancy she took a dislike to my other female, even more so when the pups were born and it has gotten to the point where they cannot be together anymore.

Kali would benefit from a home with no other female dogs/cats. Could possibly be homed by an experienced owner with male dog/s. She has never been aggressive to children, sometimes abit jumpy when excited but is very tolerant and patient. She has never bitten anyone. She is a very loved dog but unfortunately, have had to make the difficult decision for my other dog. She will make a new owner extremely happy 🩷

Not many photos this week due to being super busy and making sure all the pups are walked and safe before the heat gets too intense.
We’ve been up early this week, doing home visits and I’ve had a few cat drop ins 🥰
Little Dexters second week with us too this week and he’s already growing in confidence ♥️

A scent game to calm things down after our mad hour in the water ♥️

Today marks 4 years since I lost my dad… It’s a reminder of how much the dogs have kept me going and brought me so much happiness. Feeling very grateful for each every one of them 🩷 A huge thank you to all of our customers who chose us to walk your dogs ♥️🙏

Here at Herts Hiking Hounds our main priority is your dogs happiness and that is why we specialise in positive socialisation. We are very particular with what groups your pups are placed into so they get the best experience possible with us! We take the time in getting to know your dogs personalities and what they are comfortable with. As you can see in this video …. Both of these walks are of calm happy pups …. Sniffing and have a stroll with their friends 🩷 We walk in small groups of 4-5 so the walks with us are not too overwhelming for them. Today I was covering for Sarah B so i had a couple of extra pups with me … they have all met before and as predicted got on great 🥰 We love our doggy family! 🩷

Bit of agility training today 😂😉

*video sent to me by Blue’s mum and dad the day after our training session* Blue had some recall training with me yesterday as part of our puppy package deal and look how well he is doing! 🙌 I advised they get a long line and showed them a very simple technique. Keep your training streamline and consistent. And with recall, work your way up with more distractions. Well done Blue! 💙

Snuffle mats! A great thing to have for any dog! I always take breed fulfilment into consideration. For example Dachshunds were bred to hunt rabbits, they would go into rabbit holes and force them out. So in the Spring I will be buying them sandpits so they can dig to their hearts content! These snuffle mats are great in the meantime…. Using their noses also helps build confidence especially in puppies. Always encourage your dog to use their nose more - you’ll be surprised how much it can help with stress and confidence.

It was Winston’s first walk with Mel and the gang this morning and he did so well! ♥️ (pics also in comments) …. we are super proud of him for being so brave and taking it all in his stride 🥰 And a massive thank you to Jim, Mabel and Una for welcoming him with open paws! 🐾 At Herts Hiking Hounds we pride ourselves in matching dogs together and keeping our groups small….. I’d say today is another win for the team! 😉 The healthy and positive socialisation that we provide will help massively with Winston’s progress into adulthood. We train recall on all of our walks and ensure that they are filled with adventure and positive experiences in a safe and controlled environment. WELL DONE WINSTON! ♥️♥️♥️♥️
