Bobs the Pug – A Miracle Wrapped in Wrinkles

🐾❤️🩺

This is Bobs, a lovely little pug with a huge heart… and until recently, a huge problem.

Bobs came to us critically unwell—struggling to urinate, very uncomfortable, and dangerously close to collapsing. Her family had been worried for weeks. Despite having been seen before, her condition had been misdiagnosed.

What we found shocked us all…
A massive bladder stone, larger than a golf ball 🪨, lodged painfully inside her bladder, causing infection and inflammation. Her white blood cell count was off the charts. She was septic, dehydrated, and fading fast.

But this little girl had no intention of giving up.

She spent 3 days in hospital with us, under close monitoring, IV fluids, pain relief, and emergency surgery to remove the stone. The odds weren’t great—but Bobs is a fighter.

And now... just look at her!
Bright, cheeky, full of life—and back to her normal self.

We are delighted, her family is overjoyed, and the whole team at Happy Paws Vets is so proud to have been part of her story.

🐶✨ BIG DAY FOR OUR LITTLE FRENCHIE SQUAD! ✨🐶

Yesterday, we took a HUGE step in ensuring a healthy, happy life for our adorable French Bulldog puppies! 🩺💉 It was vaccination day for our little princesses: Snow White, Ursula, Tiana, and Moana! 👑🐾

They were absolute superstars—brave, curious, and of course, extra cuddly after their first shots! 🥰🐶 Nothing is more important than giving them the best start in life, and we’re so excited to watch them grow into strong, happy, and playful companions! 💕🐾

Meet James – the Friendly Face (and Tech Whiz!) at Our Reception!

If you’ve popped into Happy Paws Vets recently, you’ve probably been greeted by the one and only James – and chances are, many of you already know him!

James is a proud local, having spent many years working at the much-loved Blaengwawr School – yes, the very school where the Stereophonics were once pupils! He was there until it sadly closed in 2015.

After that, James joined a well-known vet company in South Wales, owned by Dr Jamie Allen, where he continued to share his warm, caring nature and brilliant work ethic.

Following some well-earned time out, James reappeared just as the Happy Paws dream was taking shape. And honestly, we can’t imagine this journey without him.

From the very beginning, he’s been our IT wizard, helping us get everything up and running behind the scenes. Without his help, this project would’ve seriously struggled.

Then one day (yes, over a pint!), we had a chat… and we asked:
“Fancy officially joining the team?”

And the rest is history! James is now a huge part of our Happy Paws family – welcoming clients at reception, keeping the tech running smoothly, and bringing that same friendly, familiar vibe that so many in the community know and love.

We’re so grateful to have him – and we’re sure lots of you are just as happy to see his smiling face.

🐾 FOUND CAT – CF44 0AP Area 🐾

This lovely, uncastrated black tom cat was brought to us after being found in the CF44 0AP area. He appeared to be injured, but after a full health check at the clinic, we’re pleased to say he is in perfect health!

He’s not microchipped, but he’s very friendly, eating well, and clearly enjoying life here at Happy Paws Vets. He’s settled in beautifully and is getting plenty of love and attention from the team.

🌟 A Huge Thank You to Mollieann! 🌟

Around 4 weeks ago, we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming Mollieann to Happy Paws Vets for her 2-week work experience placement — and we just had to say how wonderful she was! 🐾💚

Mollieann is a Level 2 Animal Care Diploma student at Bridgend College in Pencoed, and she’s also local to Aberdare. Right from day one, she impressed us with her kindness, confidence, and genuine passion for animals. She showed amazing dedication, helped in every way she could, and brought such a positive energy to the team 🐶🐱

We’d like to say a massive thank you to Mollieann and her lovely family — not only for trusting us with her placement, but also for the beautiful flowers, thoughtful card, and lovely gifts you gave us at the end. It truly meant a lot and touched everyone at the practice 💐🎁💌

🐱✨ Meet Charlie – A Happy Paws Success Story! ✨🐾
Charlie has been seen at our clinic several times after her owner noticed some worrying changes – she was losing weight despite having an excessive appetite, her coat looked dull and unhealthy, and she just wasn’t herself. 😿💔

After a full health check and blood tests, we diagnosed her with hyperthyroidism, a common thyroid condition in older cats that can cause weight loss, restlessness, and other health issues if left untreated.

💊 With the right medication and care, Charlie has made a full recovery! Her blood results are stable, she’s taking her meds daily, and her owner says she’s like a brand-new cat – full of energy, feeling amazing, and loving life again! 😻🎉

🐾 A Happy Ending for Honey! 🐶💖

Meet Honey, a beautiful 3-year-old Bichon Frise who has been struggling with a bladder problem for over a year. Her owner noticed something wasn’t right – Honey just wasn’t her usual happy self. Despite numerous courses of antibiotics, the issue never truly went away, and her discomfort continued. 😞

When Honey came to Happy Paws Vets, we knew we had to dig deeper. After careful investigation, we discovered the real culprit… bladder stones! 🪨 These little troublemakers were causing persistent irritation and discomfort, which no antibiotics could fix.

To help Honey, we performed a cystotomy – a surgical procedure to carefully remove the stones from her bladder. This procedure is often necessary when stones are too large to be dissolved with diet or medication. Thanks to our amazing team and her dedicated owner, Honey made a full recovery! 🎉

Today, she is back to her playful, happy self – tail wagging, full of energy, and loving life again! 🥰 Honey has officially been signed off as back to normal, and her owner couldn’t be happier. 💕

🌈 Lost but Loved: Can You Help Us Find His Family?

Today, a member of the public kindly brought a deceased cat to our practice. He is an entire male, ginger and white, with one distinctive ginger sock on his back right leg. Sadly, he wasn’t microchipped.

This beautiful boy was found on Brynmair Road, and we would love to help reunite him with his family so they can have closure.

We had the absolute pleasure of meeting Dobby, a 14-week-old Dachshund, who visited us recently to pick up his Pet Care Plan! 😍 This little bundle of joy came along with his lovely mum and stole our hearts with his adorable wagging tail and playful nature. 💕
