Meet Fletcher 🥰

3 year old Fletcher joined our family 6 months ago, we adopted him locally from Mrs Murray's home for stray cat's and dog's.
He took a couple of weeks to adjust to his new surroundings and family and now has become a precious part of it.
He lives a life of happiness, full of daily adventures in the countryside and loves his home comforts and lots of cuddles too.

Fletcher belongs to our small animal head nurse Mhariann 😻

Keep an eye on our social media pages across the coming weeks where we are delighted to introduce you to some of our staff pets and stories ❤️

‼️ Sheep Worrying – A Serious Concern ‼️

As we approach lambing season, many ewes are heavily pregnant or preparing to give birth. It’s more important than ever to be mindful when walking dogs near livestock.

🐑 What is sheep worrying?

Sheep worrying occurs when a dog is not on a lead or under close control on agricultural land. Even if the dog does not make physical contact with the sheep, the stress of the dog running in their field can cause severe distress which can cause sheep to die and pregnant ewes to miscarry their lambs.

🚨 Any dog can be a risk
It’s a common misconception that only aggressive dogs cause sheep worrying. In reality, any dog, even a friendly or excitable one, may instinctively chase livestock, leading to serious consequences.

✅ How can you help?
To protect livestock, always keep your dog on a short lead and under close control when near sheep or areas where they may be present. The Scottish Outdoor Access Code defines ‘under close control’ as close at heel and responsive to your commands.

Your care and responsibility can make a huge difference!

❗️The Dogs (Protection of Livestock) (Amendment) (Scotland) Act 2021 came into force on 5 November 2021 and under
this law, owners of dogs that attack or worry livestock can be fined up to £40,000 or even sent to prison for up to 12 months.

Thank you for helping keep our countryside and its animals safe. 🐶🐑

Pet Health Check – only £24.99!* 🩺

The festivities may be over, but your furry friends might still feel the effects! From gobbling goodies, to the excitement of visitors, the holiday season can take its toll.

💡Your pet can’t tell you what’s wrong, but we can:
☑️ Weight and body: That extra snacking, chilly weather and salty pavements can all add up!
☑️ Behaviour changes: The stress of changes in routine and noisy celebrations can affect your pet’s well-being.
☑️ Joints and mobility: Cold weather can affect mobility by making your pet’s joints stiff and painful.

Our expert veterinary nurses can spot and address any potential concerns early to ensure your pet starts the New Year healthy and happy! 🥳

Book a pet Health Check here: https://FindAHealthCheck.softr.app

*For well dog, cats and rabbits only. Please book a consultation if your pet is ill. Full T&Cs on the Offer page on the website.
