**Update- Hamlet is back to himself this morning, he is getting sloppy food and metacam for the next few days in case if any irritation, but he was up for breakfast this morning and ate it with relish.**

Poor Hamlet had an emergency vet call out today when he choked on a bit of squash.
He’s had medication to try and open his gullet to allow the bit of squash to go down. We have to let the vet know how he is in a few hours and he may need another injection if it hasn’t cleared. His breathing is ok, although he’s uncomfortable and stressed.
Fingers crossed he clears this in the next few hours.

Bunny bonding has started.
Bobbin and Luther are getting acquainted and it seems to be going well. They are both on metacam for arthritis, although Bobbin is a bit worse than Luther.
We hope to start bonding Little One and BlackBerry soon, once Little One has fully recovered from a respiratory infection for which he is being treated at the moment and is doing well.

'Halfpenny Farm Animal Sanctuary is launching a brand-new Animal Sponsorship Scheme.
For as little as £2.50 a month, you can help us care for them.

Our sanctuary gives a safe and loving home to animals who need a second chance — from ponies and pigs to goats, sheep and the little characters who make the place feel alive.

By sponsoring one of our residents, you help us provide the feed, care and shelter they rely on every day.

Sponsorships come with a certificate, photo of your sponsor animal and quarterly updates
making them a lovely Christmas gift, a thoughtful birthday surprise, or simply a meaningful way to support a cause close to your heart.

If you'd like to join in and sponsor one of our animals, just follow the link below. Your kindness helps us to continue to provide a safe home for abandoned and sick animals that have no where else to go'

If you would like this as a Christmas gift, orders must be in before the 16th of December to allow for postage times.

We have been unable to help many animals this year, however we recently took in this elderly boy. Luther’s owner was unable to care for him anymore and he is a bit arthritic, although he’s very curious and determined!
Having lost Sage on Saturday and with Luther finishing his quarantine last week, we started bonding between him and Bobbin. She is also arthritic and hopefully it will give them both a new friend after losing previous partners.
Isn’t he a cutie!

We noticed Nina had started to dribble more out of one side of her mouth and it looked a bit red. She went into the vet today to be sedated so they could look at her mouth thoroughly. Sadly they found a tumour at the back of her mouth and there is nothing they can do for her.
Mouth tumours in cats are usually very aggressive and we have lost others in the past, but the hardest bit about this is, she is only 7-8 years old, not an old cat.
Nina is the sweetest of cats, friendly with other cats, loves people and drools while purring if getting a cuddle.
We have her home on palliative care and will start her on steroids to try and reduce inflammation and hopefully give her more comfortable time, not long the vet thinks because they grow so quickly. We will care for her as long as she is comfortable and let her go when we cannot do that.
Sometimes life is so unfair.

Our story

We’re an animal sanctuary just outside Inverurie in Aberdeenshire that gives old, ill or animals at risk a fresh start and a safe home. Animals who come here stay here, we don't rehome.

We are Mike & Louise;

We moved here in 2002 and have steadily increased our flock to a stage where we are now pretty much at capacity. We have always had an interest in animals but had not realised how deep it ran until we moved here.

Over time we came to realise there were many animals with various issues who had nowhere to go so we have become a sanctuary for those animals. They may be struggling to find a home due to behavioural problems, untreatable illness, they are now unwanted or there is just nobody else who can take them. Many of the animals were saved from being put to sleep, or have been dumped, left to fend for themselves.
