I can’t believe it’s already six weeks ago today that dear Poppy left for new adventures over the bridge 🌈 😢
Fifteen years old yet forever young, being an ex-working gundog she lived for her walks and could always sniff out a squirrel better than the rest - right until the end!
Despite being an older lady she had equal stamina to that of the younger pups and one of the sweetest personalities I’ve ever come across ~ gentle, grateful & loyal and the biggest heart ❤️
It goes without saying Poppy broke so many hearts when she left, mine included & she is so sorely missed by her wonderful family and our afternoon walks in the forest haven’t been the same since 🥺 but at least feeling thankful that I was given the opportunity to walk her and be a regular part of her very happy life for four years……so go chase those squirrels lovely girl..…RIP Poppy 😘 ♥️ 🐾

Highly recommend THE NEW ARC (North East Wildlife & Animal Rescue Centre) - a charity based organisation.
Late one night I came across an injured young badger by the side of the road that had been hit by a car, hurt & frightened but very much alive 🥺 It wasn’t an option to leave him suffer an inevitable slow death through dehydration but I had no idea who to call or what to do, doubting any vet would be keen given he was a wild animal and it was nearly midnight.
Came across the New Arc website and tel no and rang leaving a message, not expecting to hear back and now had a badger in the back of my van. So thankful the guy called back almost immediately, giving me directions to the Wildlife Rescue Centre. Within the hour this young badger was hospitalised, given strong pain relief & fluids and was a lot happier……X-rays etc were all done first thing next morning. Honestly these people do such amazing work here and as I found out 24/7 too and above all, were so grateful to me for bringing him in. There is no fee as it’s a charity so they rely totally on donations.
It’s a real tragedy that so many road users would just drive on and let nature take its course, this could be hours or even days, so they die an agonising slow death completely unnecessarily 🥺…….at the very least if people can have a tel no on them to report an injured animal so a volunteer from the centre can attend asap.
