Registered Veterinary Nurse required to work at our newly expanded Dyce Practice with cover as required at our Holburn Street Branch.
Must have at least 2 years experience post qualification in a companion Animal Practice.
There will be occasions when you will be working as sole RVN, however, on most occasions you will work as part of a team of 1-2 Vets, 2 RVNs and 2 VCA / reception staff.
We are a very busy independent practice and the role requires any potential applicant to be confident in all aspects of Veterinary Nursing. We all end up โ€˜mucking inโ€™ where needed and this would include: Communicating with clients- face to face, through e-mail and over the phone. Communicating effectively with the veterinary team. Making appointments, repeat medication orders, adding documents to client files, taking payments etc. You must be confident with IT and have experience of veterinary management systems. Supporting the veterinary team during consults - handling animals, dispensing medicines, attending to patients needs and accurately recording information, cleaning and dealing with stock. We have excellent facilities between our practices with digital x-ray, ultrasound scanner, good in-house lab equipment and anaesthetic monitoring devices.
Our new premises provide an opportunity for Nurse Clinics and it would be an advantage to have the confidence to participate in these and to help establish ways to further engage with our clients and their pets.
We have a very busy surgical and medical schedule throughout the day and so working efficiently and effectively to support procedures, including theatre, anaesthetics, diagnostic imaging and laboratory is key to the role.

RVNs are paid weekly at an hourly rate of ยฃ16.70/hr - Equating to a yearly salary of ยฃ34,736
Hours - 40 hrs over 4 days .
You would also be part of a Saturday morning Rota - usually 1 in 5 and these would be additional hours.
20 days Holidays (For FT) plus 8 public holidays - 4 to be taken any time and 4 at Christmas.
One additional days holiday per year of service up to 5 days.
CPD is encouraged and supported.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

As part of the changes in legislation relating to XL Bully Type breeds we must ask that from Friday 23rd February 2024 all dogs that may be classed as such are muzzled when visiting our practices at Dyce and Holburn Street.
We will not be able to accept any unmuzzled dogs of this type into the practice from that date.
We know that the vast majority of dogs of this type that visit our practice are absolutely lovely - but we do need to ensure that legal requirements are met.

The following Scottish Government link provides information on all changes as well as links to other additional advice such as how to train your dog to accept a muzzle and how to apply it. It also gives you a guide to help you determine if your dog will need to be muzzled and have an exemption certificate by July.
