Blood Donation List🩸
We are looking to make a blood donor list for both dogs and cats to have within the practice. When we need a blood donor we need it urgently, we would need you to be available at a moments notice.
There are certain criteria your pet needs to meet in order to be a blood donor.
Dogs:
- Fit and Healthy 🐕
- Between 1 - 8 years old
- Weigh more than 25kg
- Have a good temperament
- Never travelled outside the UK/Ireland or born outside the UK 🌍
- Vaccinated or have had annual titre tests 💉
- Not on any medication 💊
Cat:
- Fit and Healthy 🐈
- Between 1 - 10 years old
- Weigh more than 4kg
- Up to date with vaccines (can be either indoor or outdoor cats as long as vaccinated) 💉
- Up to date with flea and worming treatment
- Have never travelled abroad 🌍
- Have never had a blood transfusion themselves 🩸
We will require you to visit the practice with your pet to have them blood typed so we keep accurate records. This involves a small blood sample to run the blood type and general health bloods.
