Pool based therapy for dogs with joint problems, recovering after illness or accident, weight issues, or just for fun.
2014 is our 10th year, we work to compliment treatment by local veterinary practices, working with all local vets and specialist Veterinary centres in Cheshire. In 2014 we have decided to concentrate on our own centre in Abergele. The Cibyn pool will continue operating under the
very capable hands of Laticia. Canine Hydrotherapy
The best form of low impact cardio-vascular exercise, swimming utilizes virtually every muscle in your dog’s body. Regular warm water exercise aids recovery of wasted muscles without the “jarring” shock of walking or running, whilst improving general fitness and flexibility. Our specialist pools and equipment allow this process to take place in a safe, controlled environment. Elderly Dogs
We have improved the mobility and quality of life of many older dogs with conditions such as osteo-arthritis. We start gently and build up the exercise gradually as the dog’s fitness and mobility improves. Some of our regulars are upwards of 15 years old. Congenital Joint problems
Conditions such as hip or elbow dysplasia and patella luxation are common among some breeds. Regular swimming builds the muscle to support these joints and often leads to a marked improvement in the dog’s quality of life. Many regular clients lead happy lives without the need for surgery. Accident and injury rehabilitation
We see dogs after accident or injury has left muscle wastage, nerve damage or other mobility problems. Some active dogs are prone to ligament injuries, and we see lots of spinal injuries, particularly in long dogs like dachsunds. Weight Issues
Often linked to age or inability to exercise due to other health issues, weight problems contribute to many health concerns in dogs. Our “weigh & swim” sessions are a popular way to help lose weight, proving that a combination of exercise and diet is more effective than diet alone. Swimming for Fitness & Fun
Many clients bring sporting and show dogs to improve fitness, muscle tone, and just for good clean fun! We also regularly swim young dogs to get them used to water. But my dog can’t swim / doesn’t like water
We do our best to make the experience enjoyable for the dog (and the owner!) We get into the pool with your dog, and have a gentle, play based approach that has converted hundreds of reluctant swimmers into enthusiastic water babies. It’s not just for Labradors! Regulars range from 3kg Yorkies to 110kg Mastiffs. Our approach differs according to the nature and needs of each dog, but they all enjoy the fuss and the drying process even if they don’t loon around the pool chasing toys.
