We know Alvin is a bit far away but by sharing someone might be interested in him. 😢

We made a promise to Alvin that 2025 will be the year that he finally meets his forever family 🤞

Alvin came into our care back in 2022 after he was involved in a cruelty case. We were excited to be able to find him a home once the case concluded, but he's still waiting for someone to take a chance on him 329 days later.

Typical to his breed, he loves to explore and find new scents to investigate so he would love a home where he can go on long adventures with his forever family.

Find out more and apply to RSPCA Preston & District Branch: https://bit.ly/4jlOP1J

Please share Alvin’s story to help him find his happy ending 🔁

Recovering from being spayed, having to wear a jumper, what else is there to do but watch cat TV, bless them😍

We make sure all the animals we rehome are neutered when the time comes.

Thank you to their new owner for taking them to the vets and giving these guys such a lovely new home.

As of the 1st January 2025 the RSPCA Oxfordshire became a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) and our charity number changed to 1210228.

This is does not change what we do or the services we provide to Oxfordshire.

We still remain self funded and run by volunteers.

An update for Pumpkin and Cookie💙

Signed over from a lady who had lots of cat and was unable to afford to look after them anymore and so gave them to us to rehome.

Here’s what their new owner has said:

🐱Pumpkin – Gradually coming out of his shell. He has spent a lot of his time so far under the sofa, but from the first day he came out to eat and use the litter tray as if there was nobody there. Now (just over two weeks later) he comes out to say hello if one of the family is present, and he will sniff us and tolerate a small amount of stroking. He loves to play with the wand toy. In the evening he loves to run around with Cookie. He is still too nervous to want to leave the one room, but that’s OK – he’s making steady and good progress.

🐱Cookie – Much more straightforward from the beginning. She is an outgoing, friendly little thing who loves to play or be stroked. She once showed an interest in exploring the second room but got nervous when out of the living room and went back in. So she’s happy in the one room for now.

✨Here’s Misty✨

She was found living in a rabbit hutch with her kitten by an RSPCA Inspector and signed over as unwanted. She was very nervous when she came in and would bite if she was picked up. She’s been given a lovely home and she is like a different cat now, relaxed and happy.

Her new owner gave us an update 💙

“She seems to have really settled and when my parents visited a month ago, it took her about 4 hours to materialise from her hiding spot and being in the same room as them.
Next morning, she was following Dad around and same again when they visited over Xmas - she stayed with us in the lounge and played with both of them. If she could hear noise upstairs, she went up to investigate, so comfortable around new people.”

✨Cats of the week✨

Shadow, Lottie and Tiger🐱

He is a lovely boy, very friendly, and can't wait to say hello when you go into the cattery. He has a grade 2 heart murmur and has probably always had it - does not cause him a problem. He is just over 2 years old, lovely boy.

Lottie and Tiger came in together via an inspector's investigation. There were lots of cats at the property and the owner was not able to look after them all. These two were signed over for homing. They are not particularly bounded so they can go to their new homes separately.

🐱Meet Susie🐱

Susie is a very laid back cat, sweet and gentle, and a bit more independent than her sister Rosie, but also loves attention and fuss.

She likes somewhere safe and warm where she can hide if she is feeling a bit nervous. Susie can be quite playful at times and loves a good nap on the bed on her own.🫶

🐱Meet Rosie🐱

Rosie is a loving affectionate cat who loves fuss and cuddles - she will come and seek you out for a cuddle! Rosie can be playful sometimes - her favourite toy is her wand which she loves to chase. She likes sitting in the window watching the world go by and napping on the bed.💤💤

We want you to take a second, you don't need to close your eyes, because then you can't read this post! But, we really want you to just take a second to consider a time in your life, where you've walked a path, a path that was part of your daily routine, it got you from A to B, safely. Now, imagine, really consider, that same path, but with 33 million vehicles, travelling at high speeds on it, too.

An estimated 1 million animals are struck on our roads, every year, with this number suspected to be much higher. This trend is likely exacerbated by the continuous rise in vehicle numbers on our roads.

Vehicle collisions make up 9% of our annual patient intake and rank in our top 5 reasons for admission. The top 3 species reported are badgers, foxes and hedgehogs, the night travellers. We know many collisions are unavoidable, but by slowing down, especially at night, you could dramatically decrease the likelihood of a fatal collision. Let’s give wildlife a chance, this Christmas, to see another one.
