New legislation was introduced in England on 13th March 2023 and all cat owners must have their pets microchipped by June 10, 2024.
Owners who don't get their cat microchipped will be given 21 days to have one implanted and if they don't, could face a fine of up to £500.
The change is part of the Government’s flagship Action Plan for Animal Welfare, and campaigners hope it will mean more lost or stray cats can be reunited with their owners.
