Please note that on Friday 30th September we will be closing this page. We are still in business but, having changed our service offer and name we need everything to be in one place. As most of you are now aware we are now boarding sighthounds and our new name is The Sighthound Savoy. We have a fb page (The Sighthound Savoy), our email address is [email protected] and our website is www.thesighthoundsavoy.co.uk
We will still also offer small pet visits in the Hyndburn area and will continue with our regular dog walking services but will not be taking on any new customers for that service other than some ad hoc walks for those of you who have used this service previously. We will also be providing a teeth cleaning service using the ultrasonic emmi pet toothbrush which will commence in November but we will be posting details of this on our fb page and website nearer the time. We've not disappeared, just changed our name and service provision so we'll see you on our other page 😍

IMPORTANT NOTICE.
As many of you will now be aware, we have changed our service offer and have re-branded to better reflect what we do.
Our business is now called The Sighthound Savoy and we specialise in home boarding of sighthounds (greyhounds, whippets, lurchers etc.)
We still offer small pet visits to your home (cats, birds, ferrets, fish etc.) and limited dog walking services.
We no longer offer regular day care but have some ad hoc places for our exisiting customers but these are only available when we have space.
We are now only taking new boarding bookings for sighthounds so unfortunately we can no longer accommodate other breeds.
It hasn't been an easy decision because we have loved all of the dogs who have boarded with us over the last 4 and a half years but, being greyhound parents ourselves, we want to offer a specialist service to sighthound owners.
This page will only be live until the end of August when we will be closing it but please feel free to follow our page The Sighthound Savoy (you don't have to have a sighthound owner to follow us of course) as we will still be offering treat bundles and running some fund raising draws.
Thank you for all of your custom and support since we started Your Fairy Dogmother back in 2015, we have not disappeared we've just made changes so if you need help finding another pet professional please contact us and we will do our best to help you.

Happy St Patrick's Day everyone!
As two of our hounds are Irish (Domingo and Bluebell) they've decided to hold a lucky number draw to raise some funds for greyhound rescue.

Today beautiful Snoopy dalmatian crossed rainbow bridge a week short of her 15th birthday. I have walked her for the last 6 years and she has made me laugh so much. She was a greedy guts who loved to scavenge and has proudly presented me with a number of delights from mouldy pizza to a dead rat! She was super affectionate with people and a real comedian. Her mum Sandra trusted me with her and I'll be forever grateful to have been in her life for so long. She will be very much missed by her family and all who knew her.
Sleep tight super Snoop, you were one in a million 💔

The first lockdown puppy boom has bred a new pandemic amongst dogs; separation anxiety.

😰 The RSPCA estimate that at least 85% of lockdown puppies do or will suffer from separation anxiety.

💔 Unfortunately many owners and dogs have learnt the hard way already that letting them get on with it doesn't work, in fact it makes it much worse.

😱 Separation anxiety can be likened to a panic attack, and if you have them or know someone who does you will understand just how awful that feels. Now imagine that panic attack lasting for several hours several times a week.

🤷‍♀️ There is a huge stigma attached to separation as a tough nut to crack and this along with a wealth of misinformation out there makes people give up early on.

👌🏽 BUT the good news is separation anxiety training is incredibly simple. In fact I'm going to say it's even easier than teaching a puppy to sit as it doesn't involve asking your dog to do anything.

📅 It takes a while, there is no denying that. It is a marathon and not a sprint which is why getting started early is so important. A few weeks before you go back to the office is not enough time.

🙌 So if you're still working from home and are already worrying about leaving your dog alone don't bury your head. Get started!

Pete and I and the hounds and ferrets would like to wish all of our customers a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. We are extremely grateful for your support throughout the strange time that has been 2021.
This year changes are afoot for us in several ways.
We had our re-inspection for our boarding licence and retained our 5 stars and 3 year licence and, as you can see, we have changed our name and logo. We will now trade as The Sighthound Savoy and will be specialising in home boarding for greyhounds, whippets, lurchers and other sighthounds.
You may also notice that the names on the licence say Maria and Pete Yarnold.
Well, we haven't got married yet, but we are off to Gretna in the Spring to finally tie the knot so we thought we may as well put my new name on the new licence albeit a tad early.
We have lots of your dogs booked in for their holidays already and are looking forward to them staying with us.

UPDATE: Doug is back home safe. Thanks to everyone for a great team effort, especially the lady who found him and took him home.
Please keep your eyes peeled for a black pug who has gone missing from the field by Arden Hall. He has a white chest and is wearing a red harness. He'd also been spotted going towards the coppice. He's staying with people on Spencer St so may try to make his way back there. He answers the name of Doug and has a bent left ear. If you spot him please post on here. Thanks
