Antibiotic Amnesty 2023
We are taking part this year in the Antibiotic Amnesty 2023 campaign to try and keep antibiotics working when we need them to. We are aiming to reduce the unsafe disposal of these medications to help with environmental pollution and to try to prevent the resistance of harmful bacteria to the antibiotics we use to fight them off. We are asking our clients to return their pet’s unused or expired antibiotics after they have finished their course of treatment so that we can dispose of them safely.
The two main points of the campaign are as follows:
- You should never give your pet left-over or out of date antibiotics. Using antibiotics when not needed could risk side effects, delay an accurate diagnosis for your pet and contribute to antimicrobial resistance
- Antibiotics should be disposed of safely. Inappropriate disposal of unused antibiotics could contribute to antimicrobial resistance and pollute the environment through waterways, affecting our wildlife.

Our vets are amazing ❤️
Our amazing vet Rachael, recently took a charity's cat home to monitor and look after for a few days after she didn't recover as well as expected after having surgery. Unfortunately this little girl had to have one of her eyes removed and had to have a short term feeding tube placed; as these tubes can slip easily Rachel took her home to feed her and give her lots of love and cuddles and as you can see, she is feeling a lot better.
Meet Poppy!
Little Poppy had a stay with us today after she ate some of her owners medication that was posted through their letterbox. Luckily, poppy's owner nipped home to check on her at lunch and had seen what she had done and rushed her straight down. We'll be seeing Poppy back for a quick check over tomorrow but we're all hopeful she's done no lasting damage but won't know for certain until we redo her blood tests in a couple of days ❤️
💞
Someone was happy after having their dental today 😂 Meet Jenny! Jenny had quiet a few teeth extracted today but thanks to our pain relief being one of our top priorities Jenny woke up feeling on top of the world 🥰 For painful procedures we use 4 types of pain killers and if we can we also use local anaesthetic to numb the area - Jenny here had a local block around the teeth we extracted - much like going to the dentist ourselves ❤️ If you're concerned about your pets dental health then book an appointment with one of nurses - poor dental health is not only painful but can lead to kidney disease and heart disease 🐾
