*IMPORTANT - PRACTICE CLOSURE SATURDAY 6TH JULY*
As access to the practice is likely to be significantly, if not entirely, impeded by the planned public processions on 6/7/24, we feel we have no option but to remain closed. Our usual emergency cover will be in place during this time - dial 01236763541 and press 1 to be diverted to our out-of-hours provider. Please ensure that any prescriptions required over this weekend are collected by 6.30pm on Friday 5th July. Normal business hours will resume from 8.30am on Monday 8th.

After months of hard work, we are excited to announce that we have gained Positive Pawprint Partner status! The Positive Pawprint is a framework designed around 3 concepts - Caring for People, Caring for the Planet and Caring for Patients, with an aim to improve sustainability within our practice. A special thanks to nurse Jennifer for taking the reins on this project and also to head nurse Amanda and receptionist Sandra for their help and contributions in facilitating important changes. More information on this strategy can be found at

Meet Sulley🩶

Sulley was in earlier this week for his castration surgery. One of the nurses provided him with a blanket with Pet Remedy calming spray on it, as you can see he loved it!

Pet Remedy works alongside the natural relaxation pathways in the brain to help calm the nerves of anxious or stressed pets.
It is made from plants and is suitable for dogs, cats, rabbits, birds and even horses! You might even feel the effects of the calming spray too.

If you would like to purchase Pet Remedy for your pet you can find it using our online shop ⬇️

*Changes to repeat prescriptions*

Due to recent changes in authorisation guidelines and restricted deliveries from our supplies, we now require 72 hours notice for all prescriptions including flea/tick and worming treatments. This also applies to patients who are on our pet health club.

To order a repeat prescription please call the practice on 01236 763541 and select option 2 where you will leave a voice message. Alternatively you can contact us via email on [email protected] where we will need to know your name and address, pets name and the name of the medication you need.

You will then receive a text message to inform you that your prescription is ready to collect.

Any walk in prescription requests will still be accepted but the medication will require 72 hours processing time before collection.

🐾 Windsor 🐾

Windsor spent some time with us before Christmas after arriving home with her owners as she wasn’t very well, she spent the day getting some fluids and medication in our isolation ward. She was isolated both for her own safety as she was not fully vaccinated and also to protect our other patients as we did not know why she was unwell.
The fluids made her feel better quite quickly, there is a video in the comments of her playing with our student nurse Bonnie!

Today Windsor was back in for her microchip and came through to see the nurses again and show how well she is doing!

🐰Thor and Loki🐰

These two cute bunnies were in with us last week to be castrated. Small patients, especially small furries, can get cold very easily when having a general anaesthetic and so it is important to do all we can to keep them warm.

Here you can see them both wearing some Christmas jumpers which were kindly donated by one of our clients.
They also had bubble wrap under their jumpers, boots on their feet and the red blanket that you can see blows warm air around the patient.

Please leave pictures of your small furries below!

🌎AMR and the environment🌎
- The environment is at risk if antibiotics aren’t disposed of properly.
- If antibiotics are disposed of inappropriately e.g. via household waste, this can
contribute to antimicrobial resistance in the environment
- Always return unused or out of date antibiotics to your vet for safe disposal
- Antimicrobial resistance is one of the biggest global health issues of our time.
We must act, together.

Please return any unused antibiotics or other medications to the practice for safe disposal

💊What to do if you have leftover or unused antibiotics💊

-Return them to your vet practice for safe disposal
-Inappropriate disposal of unused antibiotics could contribute to antimicrobial
resistance and pollute the environment through waterways, affecting our
wildlife
- Don’t ever give your pet, or any pet for which they haven’t been prescribed,
left-over or out of date antibiotics. Using antibiotics when not needed could
risk side effects, delay an accurate diagnosis for your pet, mean that your
pets condition may not be treatable, and contributes to antimicrobial
resistance

During November we are taking part in the 2023 Antibiotic Amnesty in support of reducing antimicrobial resistance and the environmental impact of incorrectly disposed medication.

What is Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)?
- Antibiotic resistance occurs when bacteria develop defences that protect
them from antibiotic medications, making treatment less effective
- Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is an increasing problem worldwide, affecting both
human and animal health. Antibiotics are essential when treating many conditions in
animals and people, but bacteria are becoming resistant to many antibiotics that we
rely on in human and veterinary medicine.

Our practice is taking part in the antibiotic
amnesty this November. Clients can return any unused or out of date antibiotics to
us for safe disposal.

This is Rosie and Cosmo!

They were both in for surgery today and are rocking our medical pet shirts. 👚👕
These pet shirts are unique compared to others as they are designed to let your pet go to the toilet without needing to take them off! The pink shirts are designed for females and the blue shirts are designed for males. The pink ones are also perfect to be used for cats 🐱

If this is something you would like, you can ask about them on the day of your pets operation during the admission. 🐾

🐾Lola🐾

Lola was in with us today for surgery. She is 10 years old and look how amazingly clean her teeth are!
For most dogs this would require regular brushing, chewing on appropriate toys and maybe even a scale and polish by us. Lola however is super lucky and has just been blessed with good teeth!

If you would like your dogs teeth to stay as good as Lola’s we recommend a dental check up with the vets and using a product like the oral health support capsules which can be purchased at the link below. These work by softening any plaque build up on the teeth which can then be removed either by brushing or appropriate chewing🦷🪥

Hi everyone,
On Thursday morning between the hours of 10.30am till 12pm we are getting our new phone system installed. This will impact our capabilities in reception and with consultations. Can I ask that you don’t phone for appointments or medication/ prescription requests during this period please.
We are obviously still available for any emergencies and will be contactable through a diverted line to a mobile phone.
I will post an update here if the installation is completed quicker than expected.
Many thanks for your co-operation
