59 animals rescued and rehomed this year at Berkshire Animal Rescue 😍

This year at BAR we rehomed 31 rabbits, 27 guinea pigs and Ruby the chinchilla.

These are not huge numbers compared to many rescues but each and every one of them has gone to a wonderful home. If you have adopted from us and your babies are not pictured (or even if they are!) please do comment with a photo below as we always love to hear how they are doing.

We are not a big rescue - we are volunteers, we don’t have a rescue centre and we receive no funding. We are hugely grateful for the support of our foster team and for all of your donations and sponsorships throughout the year which enable us to continue our work and help more small animals in need.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to you for sharing our journey throughout 2024 and to wish you all a very Happy New Year!

Here are three of our slightly older pairs looking for homes.

On the left are Theodore and Harley who are a 4-year-old male/female bonded pair. They are both neutered and fully vaccinated.

Spot and Boomer (top right) are a 2-year-old female bonded pair. Both are spayed and fully vaccinated.

Cricket and Daisy (bottom right) are a 3-year-old male/female bonded pair. They are both neutered and fully vaccinated and they are looking for an indoor home.

If you are interested in adopting a pair of rabbits, please send us a dm for a chat. We rehome all of our rabbits to RWAF guidelines and a home check and adoption fee apply.

Spot and Boomer are full of beans as usual πŸ˜‚. Unbelievably, these gorgeous, fun girls are still looking for an amazing forever home together.

Adoptions of pairs, especially the sightly older ones, are at an all time low. Fewer people are taking on rabbits as new pets and so most of our adoptions are for singles going to bond with a bereaved rabbit or join a group.

We currently have five beautiful pairs waiting for a new home.

Fred the Guinea Pig needs surgery to remove his abcess 😒

Fred the Guinea Pig has been to the vets for a check up with his friend Reggie.

As you will see from the photo, Fred has a large abcess under his chin which needs to be surgically removed. We need to raise an additional Β£100 to cover the cost of the surgery.

We know it's a difficult time of year but if anyone feels they could donate, even a small amount, to help Fred on his way to a new home it would be very much appreciated.

Spot and Boomer are very active and friendly outdoor rabbits. Their ideal home would be a large outdoor setup with lots of space and enrichment to keep them busy!

Why do rabbits needs lots of space and enrichment?

πŸ‡ Rabbits are active and intelligent animals and will suffer if they get bored. As pet rabbits are usually confined for most of the day, stimulation, freedom and choice are important to their health and wellbeing. Interesting environments that keep them busy, physically and mentally, will create a happy home 🐰

Just look at those faces πŸ₯°. It's sad that Cricket and Daisy are still with us but we know that their new family is out there. They are aged between 2-3 years old and are a loveable pair who adore each other. We are looking for a spacious indoor home for them as they love living indoors.

If you would like to offer Cricket and Daisy a home or have a chat with someone about keeping rabbits indoors, please drop us a message for an initial chat 😊.
