Welcome Lilly 🥰
Adopted today from West Berks Rescue .
She came in last year as part of a hoarding case where 21 pigs came in to rescue. Lilly is very pretty but has sadly been overlooked by other adopters as she's a bit shy 🥹 but she is settling in well and will be a lovely new companion for Noddles 🥰

After a whopping 6 months in rescue, my fosters Spot and Boomer went to their fabulous new home today 🥳🥳🥳 So happy for them ❤️

Fred and Reggie are now available for adoption 🥳

Despite many myths about boars,, it is definitely true to say that they have massive personalities and are often more affectionate than sows! It is entirely possible for boars to live together in harmony when their accommodation and enrichment needs are met.

Fred and Reggie are less than a year old. They are a wonderful pair, with big personalities who make me laugh everyday! Reggie especially is super friendly, he is always standing at the bars waiting for a nose rub! Fred is now fully recoveted from his abcess surgery last month. Both boys were previously in a home with children and are lovely and cuddly and will happily sit on a lap for ages.

Fred and Reggie are currently living indoors, but could be moved outdoors later in the spring.

🌈 My beautiful girl Lola made her way over the rainbow bridge last night 😭💔
She was such a wonderful little lady and she will be sorely missed by us all, especially her friend Noddles 😢

Fred and Reggie will soon be looking for their new home 🏡 👀

The boys are both less than a year old (born in February and June). They are very friendly (especially Reggie), full of beans and LOVE their food. They are really affectionate and love a cuddle!

Fred and Reggie are looking for a spacious home - they are currently indoors but could be moved outdoors later in the spring.

Moon's Menagerie is 2 years old today 🥳

This year, we have fostered 15 animals for Berkshire Animal Rescue and successfully rehomed 8 of those, 2 rabbits and 6 guinea pigs 🥳

The remaining 7 are still looking for homes! 👀 🏡

- Female bonded pair
- Outdoor rabbits
These two are very active and very inquisitive so will need a large predator proof space with lots of enrichment to keep them busy!

The 'new boy' Derek is settling well in here at Moons Menagerie and he is enjoying being out and about exploring! 💙

Derek is booked in for his Vaccinations and Neutering on Tuesday 21st January and all being well, will be available for adoption at the end of March. Derek will be looking for an indoor or outdoor home with another rabbit companion 🏡

My newest foster - now sponsored and named Derek!

Our newest intake was recently brought into a local vet having been found wandering on his own 😞. Despite an appeal nobody came forward for him and so we have taken him in.

He is a gorgeous boy and we can't keep calling him Mr Fluffy 😂 so he is in need of a kind person to sponsor and name him. Sponsoring a rabbit involves a one-off £30 donation towards their vet bill and the opportunity to give your sponsor his/her very own name and identity. If you would like to help please comment below.

We received a load of surrender requests today. Most of them are for rabbits and guinea pigs who were purchased and are no longer wanted 😔. We don’t have any space so we can’t take them. Several rescues we used to work with have closed - not being able to help every animal takes a toll. It’s beyond sad and, until shops stop selling small animals, nothing will change.

Donations, however small, are always so gratefully received to help those in our care and we would LOVE to hear from anyone interested in fostering so that we can try to do a bit more.

Sooty and Moe are nearly 6months old! (Time flys when they are this cute) They are both now castrated, vaccinated and living together outside.

🥶 What can we do to help out outdoor small pets stay warm in the cold weather? 🥶

- keep bedding clean and dry
- replace water regularly to avoid freezing
- use warm bedding like straw
- use lots of hay and forage for eating and enrichment
- use heat pads (always with a cover!)
- provide lots of space and enrichment games to keep them active and warm

59 animals rescued and rehomed this year at Berkshire Animal Rescue 😍

This year at BAR we rehomed 31 rabbits, 27 guinea pigs and Ruby the chinchilla.

These are not huge numbers compared to many rescues but each and every one of them has gone to a wonderful home. If you have adopted from us and your babies are not pictured (or even if they are!) please do comment with a photo below as we always love to hear how they are doing.

We are not a big rescue - we are volunteers, we don’t have a rescue centre and we receive no funding. We are hugely grateful for the support of our foster team and for all of your donations and sponsorships throughout the year which enable us to continue our work and help more small animals in need.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to you for sharing our journey throughout 2024 and to wish you all a very Happy New Year!
