Some useful information for those with older dogs ❤️‍🩹

🐕 🩺Arthritis in dogs🐕 🩺

Have you noticed your dog slowing down during the colder weather....this could be a sign of arthritis?

Arthritis is a progressive joint disease and symptoms develop and worsen over time. Your dog may also become reluctant to play or go up and down stairs, and they might struggle to get up after long periods of rest.

Other symptoms of arthritis in dogs may include:

⚠️Irritability
⚠️Licking or chewing at joints
⚠️Limping or lameness
⚠️Groaning or caution when lying down or getting up
⚠️Walking more slowly when out on a walk
⚠️Tiredness

Whilst there's no cure for arthritis, you can improve your dog's quality of life with new generation medications. Speak to your vet for a health check and advice if you think your dog may be showing signs of arthritis.

Dog of the Week goes to… 🥁 🥁 🥁

🥳🥳 Clancy!! 🤩🤩

Clancy has been a super boy this week! Clancy can get quite upset and nervous when strange dogs come bounding up to him and we have had a couple of instances of a German Shepherd with no recall and of course, always off lead 😡🙈doing just this to us which upsets Pickett never mind Clancy! Well on this occasion we were walking through a field (I knew this certain dog was somewhere in the area as I’d seen the owners car) but thought we would walk in the opposite direction as far away from where they could be as possible with Clancy on his yellow nervous dog lead. To no avail, as 2 minutes later the dog came flying across the entire field towards us ignoring any calls as usual. 😫 (Why can’t people learn!!) We carried on walking and Clancy completely ignored the dog and carried on after Pickett. I also ignored the dog and kept between her and Clancy and Pickett and carried on talking away to them both saying what a good job they were doing. Clancy stayed so calm throughout, kept his focus on me and the dog got bored and ran off! Cue lots of treats and fuss and a super proud dog walker! Well done Clancy, you were a star 🌟

The snow and ice is not putting a stop to our agility training!

Instead we do ‘bedroom’ agility training… and no that is not a euphemism 😂

Working on our impulse control and verbal skills
