A huge well done to tonight’s pony clubbers!

With their riding ability improving it’s now time for them to start educating some of our younger horses - tonight was mounted games practice ready for the summer holidays! 🫣

Finished off with a little ride ba****ck, again a new experience for some of the horses ridden tonight 👏🏻👏🏻

We are very proud of our regular rider ⭐️ Scarlett ⭐️ for passing her RDA Grade 1 with 100% marks today. Well done 👏🏻👏🏻👏...

They are never just RIDING SCHOOL PONIES:

One day you may move onto bigger, fancier horses, but never forget the school horse who made you, as without them, you wouldn’t be able to ride anything at all.

The patient soul that tolerated your bouncing while you figured out how to sit the trot.

The kind mare that didn’t walk off when you fumbled with the bridle and figured out how to pop that bit in her mouth.

The sweet gelding that picked up the correct canter lead even though your body was telling him to do the exact opposite.

The saintly angel that never spooked, which was a dam good thing because your balance was precarious at best.

Too often we forget where we came from. We move on to the next chapter in our lives and say, “Oh my gosh, I’m learning so much! I’m going so far! I could never do this kind of thing on that old school horse!”

But infact you could, you were just not ready to do all these things back then.

But that school horse gave you the confidence to move forward. That school horse took care of you in all respects and allowed you to take the time you needed to find your way. You couldn’t have become the rider you are today without that riding school horse, always remember to love them unconditionally for our riding school horses are what help start your dream, make dreams come true and get you ready for those bigger dreams 🐴

We know our riding school horses are a first love for many of you, we would love to hear which one you will always remember and why.

To all the Fathers of young equestrians.
Those who give up their time, their hard earned money, their weekends, stand in all weathers, brave the mud, the wet horse smells and hair, all to encourage and support your child’s love of horses and riding.
Thank you

Happy Father’s Day.

We hope you all had a lovely day today.

| Man suffers serious injuries after being trampled by cows

We were called to reports of a man having been trampled by cows in Birkinstyle Lane, Shirland at around 7.40am on Friday 24 May.

The man, who is in his 50s, has been taken to hospital with significant serious injuries but these are not thought to be life-threatening at this stage.

While these cows have been moved away from the area, members of the public are being reminded to take care around livestock, particularly where animals are with their young.

The Countryside Code advises that wild animals, livestock and horses should been given plenty of space. The behaviour of animals can be unpredictable, especially when they are with their young.

And the Ramblers Association advises that if walking through a field with cattle or other farm animals, you should walk quickly and quietly. It is possible that animals may approach you but if you panic or run from them, they may also start running.

Walkers should not approach any animals, feed them or touch them and should leave any gates as they find them.

If walking with a dog, you should keep your dog close and on a lead around other animals.

If cattle run towards you, or you feel in any danger, let your dog off the lead. This will make it easier for you both to get to safety.

For more information on how to stay safe while out in the countryside see https://orlo.uk/Tj1fT
