Did you know that horses don’t feel the cold in the same way that we do? Here are some helpful Winter tips from the The British Horse Society. ❄️

It can be really tempting to rug our horses to keep them cosy, especially when we feel cold ourselves, but as horses will naturally grow a thick winter coat, it is important to assess whether rugging is truly necessary.

With temperatures dropping it’s likely you’re adding on an extra layer of clothing. However, a healthy horse doesn’t tend to feel the cold until the temperature falls below 5°C, above this they are able to keep themselves warm without using too much energy. Therefore, it’s important we don’t rug our horses based on how cold we are feeling.

At this time of year, the temperature can vary at different parts of the day, so although it may feel cooler at 7am a few hours later it can be a lot warmer!

On behalf of myself & Victor we’d like to wish you all a merry Christmas & happy new year!! Here’s hoping the new year ahead holds health & happiness for everyone of you!! From tomorrow we are off on a holiday break & our horses are also hvn a little holiday they are going on the walker daily & out in the fields with friends, we didn’t intend for horses to hv a holiday 🙄 unfortunately the arrangements that had been made to keep them going got undone & we got let down once again!! All the best to all our followers for 2025 your support is so much appreciated many thanks ♥️💛🏇🏼🏇🏼

Well this is our 2nd runner of the season exsellence we did expect him to be in the frame as he would need a run, we had top conditional jockey on Charlie maggs sadly they hit a jump 3 out as he was moving up, but we are just plzd exsellence was safe & sound afterwards & Charlie said he had a fab ride on him ♥️💛🏇🏼🏇🏼

“The Northern Area Point-to-Point season starts on Sunday 1st December with the Border fixture at Hexham Racecourse. It has attracted a total of 80 entries, including plenty of long-distance travellers, on a six race card starting at 12.30pm”.
