😍 Meet Priscilla! 😍
We saw Priscilla after her owners were concerned as she was vomiting a lot after she had chewed a football
We anaesthetised her and Vet Martin used our endoscope to look into Priscilla's stomach where he managed to retrieve a piece of the football!
Priscilla went home on some medication and his back at home with her family
Endoscopy is a great way for us to look into an animals gastrointestinal system and allows us to remove small objectives safely

❄️ With the cold weather we are having we wanted to raise awareness of cold weather hazards and how to ensure pets are safe in the upcoming winter months 🗓️
Many people know that antifreeze and other common automotive and household chemicals are dangerous to pets, but it’s important to know that this toxicity can be quickly fatal, and familiarise yourself with the measures you can take to protect your pets 🐈
Even a small amount of antifreeze can make your pet dangerously ill, yet pets are often attracted to these products because of their sweet taste.
For cats especially, it can be harder to monitor their outdoor movements and keep them safe from potential dangers.
It is therefore important to be aware of the signs and symptoms so that quick action can be taken.
Signs may include:
Lethargy
Vomiting
Incoordination
Excessive urination
Excessive thirst
Low body temperature
Seizures
Coma
📌 When in doubt, if you suspect your pet has ingested ethylene glycol, even the smallest dose of antifreeze, or any kind of water coolant, seek immediate veterinary attention.
As a Lifetime Care Club Unlimited member you can ask @Vidivet a question free of charge at any time, day or night and one of their vets will get back to you in just a few minutes.
That means if your pet has ingested something and you’re unsure if you need an appointment, you’ll get instant peace of mind about what your next step should be
These two bouncy bunnies came to Cedar Vets Alton to be neutered
There are benefits to neutering rabbits including:
- No risk of pregnancy - Rabbits can have multiple litters per year, and pregnancy and birth both carry risks to both your rabbit and the kittens.
- Socialisation skills- Rabbits need companionship and male-female pairings generally work best socially. Having both rabbits neutered is important
- Reduced risk of cancer- Sadly, female rabbits can be more at risk of developing uterine cancers. They can also develop uterine infections, or other cancers such as mammary cancer. Neutering when young greatly reduces the chances of these occurring.
- Behavioural changes - Neutered rabbits are much less likely to exhibit marking behaviours making house training and handling easier.
Shadow and Storm are both recovered from their surgery well and are back together at the school where they live!
If you would like more information regarding neutering then please contact the surgery
Today is a day to share the love!

🐈 Say hello to Cedar the British Short Hair Cat 🐈
This handsome chap had to have two surgeries on his pelvis due to having a condition where the head of his femur (the round ball like part) separates from the femur bone
This condition is very painful and requires surgery to remove the femoral head.
Following his surgery he visited the_lionclinic.vetphysio to receive some physiotherapy and laser therapy to help assist with his recovery
Physiotherapy can be a beneficial tool in aiding recovery following specific surgeries
Vets and Physiotherapists work closely together to ensure the best possible outcome for their patients
