Today is Veterinary Receptionist Appreciate Day!

***********

So you fancy being a Veterinary Receptionist?

Understandable, working in a vet practice is pretty cool but can you...

Answer a phone......while two other lines are ringing and several clients are waiting at the desk to be booked in, to pick up medicines and to pay for their treatment

Take a call about a sick pet......calm down a hysterical owner, ascertain the relevant details, find and speak to a vet or nurse in the clinic, remember their advice, relay that to the owner and then book them in for an emergency appointment (also while the waiting room is still full)

Cuddle a cute puppy...... when just a few minutes before you were offering tissues and sympathy to a family who had lost a beloved companion.

Make a cup of tea...... for a distraught colleague who has just dealt with a really traumatic situation, comfort them and then help and support them to face the rest of their day

And that is just for starters!

Veterinary Receptionists are the beating heart of a veterinary clinic. They are the people who you will first speak to on the phone, who will greet you at the desk, who plan our days and keep the show on the road.

They will welcome your new cute addition to the family and be the sympathetic and kind presence you need when you face that final day with your companion.

Today is Veterinary Receptionist Appreciation Day!

Thank you VERY much for all you do for all of us! ❤️

**IMPORTANT UPDATE PLEASE READ**

Last Friday on the 1st of September 2023 the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons issued a change to some of the guidelines on the dispensing of certain medications that may affect you. This is relevant for veterinary surgeons when we supply prescription-only medications. The new guidelines relate to controlled drugs, antibiotics, antifungals, anti parasitic (flea and worm treatment) and antiviral medications.

There is no change if you are in the clinic with the vet, but the rules have changed for dispensing repeat prescriptions on some medications.

We will do our very best so that the changes impact you as little as possible, however we have no option but to follow the rules set out by our governing body.

We thank you for your understanding as we expect there will be circumstances where clients are affected.

Thank you and best wishes

The Buchananvets team

Having our Canine/Feline friends overweight can cause serious health problems, and make existing problems worse, which can reduce the length and quality of your pet's life. It puts them at greater risk of conditions such as:

Diabetes
Heart disease
Respiratory distress
High blood pressure
Joint problems

Obesity can affect all types of pets. It's mainly caused by eating too much or not exercising enough, although, as mentioned above, some diseases can also cause obesity.

To help prevent obesity in your pet, make sure they maintain a healthy diet and give them plenty of exercise.

If you're concerned about your pet's weight we offer a free on charge Weight/Diet Consultation with our Senior Nurse Cara. Please call the surgery to make an appointment 😊

*food bank update*

We have had some people visiting us to receive some help from our food bank this week and have decided rather than designating just one day for collections, If you need our help and would like to come down to collect some food, you can pop down and ask reception or give us a call any day of the week.

We can be discreet if necessary as we have a quiet room we can have a chat in 🙂.

We are still receiving donations which we are so grateful for and hope we can help as many pets as possible. ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you so much to whoever took the time to nominate us ❤️

23/11/2022

A huge thank you for your kind donations, so far, towards our Pet Food Bank. It’s been a great start!
Donations are still being taken either on a Saturday and now also during the week at our Timperley branch. Thank you for your generosity 😊

18/11/2022

Due to the current cost of living crisis, we appreciate owning and feeding a pet is becoming extremely difficult. We are therefore in the process of setting up a local pet food bank.

No pet should have to go hungry and no one should have to choose between feeding themselves or feeding their pets. Hard times can happen to anyone and with pets in the family there are more bowls to fill when money is tight.

We are initially asking for any donations, whether it be food, treats or even toys etc to be dropped of any Saturday at our Timperley branch between the hours of 10am-3pm with hopes to open up our food bank by the 5th December, 2022.

Thanking you in advance. 😊

10/11/2022

Unfortunately we have had a deceased black and white cat brought into our Timperley branch, found near Brooklands roundabout. Microchipped but no response as yet from voicemail left. Please share. Thank you 😢

17/07/2022

With temperatures expected to reach highs of 37°C next week, please only come to the practice if your appointment cannot be reasonably delayed, especially if your pet fits into one of these categories as the risk is far greater to them:
- brachycephalic breeds
- obese pets
- very young pets
- elderly pets

We do not have full air conditioning at Timperley, but we do at our Baguley branch 😊

As Red and Amber extreme heat warnings are announced across the UK, vets issue urgent advice on keeping pets safe from heat-related illnesses.
