Meet Pippin! Pippin is 9 years old, standing at 14.1hh. She is owned by the Rossway RDA branch and ridden within the riding school. Pippin is a striking mare, we always have comments about how beautiful she is. She is a great Pony Club Pony too, and has taken part in lots of camps and rallies. She is also the perfect hacking pony and is great at giving riders confidence out hacking!

Pippin loves water. She loves having a big drink from a bucket and playing with the water. She is a pro at apple bobbing and loves playing with the hose pipe in summer too! In the summer, her coat is a bright bay with some dapples poking through, and in the winter she gets much darker, but she is beautiful all year round!

Pippin has a lovely thick, long mane. Our staff and volunteers spend lots of time during the hotter months putting it into running braids to keep it off her neck and keep her cool. She is very good at waiting for someone to spend a long time on her mane to then shake or roll and mess it up again! But we love her all the same.

Happy Friday! We are kicking off the weekend right with a new horse alert 😍

Everybody meet Inca!

Inca is 9 years old standing at approx. 14.3hh and drop dead gorgeous! She is on loan to us and arrived with Passion towards the end of last year and has settled in well. She has been taking part in staff training and undergoing assessments, and she made her riding school debut on Wednesday! She is a very sweet mare, and of course our favourite colour 😍 She is for our more advanced riders.

We can't wait for you to meet her! 💗

I'm trying to combine rug drier naps with my new years resolution of more Yoga. This is more efficient, and way toastier than Yoga in the cold! Only problem is I keep falling asleep half-way through 🙈

Meet Saffy! Saffy is 22 years old, standing at 12.3hh. Her real name is “You May Laugh”, which suits her so well! She is also called Saffron by the staff when she is being cheeky. Saffy is always up to something and she is the funniest little pony on the yard. She knows exactly which instructors have treats and how to pull the heart strings of each individual for “just one more”!

Saffy’s best friend is Goldie, and they make a fantastic little pair. Saffy is a little more confident than Goldie, but she looks after her bestie. Our younger riders adore Saffy, and she is often requested in lessons! Saffy loves looking after little ones, and she is sometimes ridden by staff too!

Despite her small size, Saffy is absolutely packed with character and a little pocket rocket! She is one of the few ponies on the yard that knows a trick, and she can fistbump, but only in exchange for treats. If you fistbump her and no payment follows, she gets rather annoyed. We don’t blame her!

A Heartwarming Success Story! 💗🥰

You may remember Diana, who joined the riding school in December 2023. Diana is privately owned by the same wonderful lady who owns Mojo! She thrived within the riding school, being ridden by our staff during student training sessions, as well as by our advanced clients. She also enjoyed competing in showjumping events with her owner!

In July 2024, Diana was diagnosed with Kissing Spine. Despite the pain she must have endured, she never showed it. Her owners describe her as incredibly sweet, always taking care of her riders and giving her all, no matter what. Remarkably, she displayed none of the typical symptoms of Kissing Spine and didn’t appear to be in discomfort. However, during a routine check-up, the vets noticed some sensitivity in her back. After spending two days at the vet clinic undergoing thorough examinations, Diana was diagnosed with Kissing Spine.

After carefully considering their options, her owners made the decision to proceed with surgery. The procedure was a success, with seven interspinous regions shaved down! Diana stayed overnight at the clinic post-op, and the veterinary team adored her so much they joked about not wanting to give her back.

What followed was a long but rewarding road to recovery. After several months of box rest, Diana was cleared to begin in-hand walks, which gradually progressed to being ridden again. She’s now back to cantering and tackling raised trot poles with enthusiasm!

“We couldn’t be prouder of Diana making such a successful recovery, and for being so calm and affectionately behaved throughout it all” – Diana’s owners.

Although Diana is no longer part of the riding school, she continues to be ridden by our staff and her owners—and she’s thriving! She was overjoyed to re-join her herd and is often seen running happily with Bunny and Mojo. 🐴😍
