Hi all,
I hope everyone is keeping safe in this heat 😪
Just thought i’d make a post giving some helpful tips to help your pup feel a little more comfortable!! I know some doggos (and owners) may be struggling not being able to go on walks.
If you put a water bottle in the freezer, it can be a great enrichment activity. Dogs like to lick the condensation and some will even lay next to it and soak up the cool.
You could try putting some wet food, or meat paste, or peanut butter in a kong/lickpad and put that in the freezer. Again this is a great enrichment activity!
My dogs love if you scatter frozen fruit and veg on the floor! Peas, sweetcorn, berries… whatever you fancy.
You can also buy cooling mats, bandanas and jackets that can be a great way to cool down your pooch.

I am available for early morning (7am - 8am) and late night (8pm - 9pm) walks if you need a helping hand ✋🏼 We’re supposed to be hitting near the 30s and above for the next couple weeks. Even if it’s cloudy out, British humidity is no joke 🫠 Can’t believe it. We know it’s England at the end of the day so this weather won’t last long. Please do remember no dog has ever died from missing a walk, but plenty have sadly died from heatstroke.

If you find yourself in the unfortunate position of your dog overheating. Please try and avoid ice or anything too cold as this can cause them to go into shock. Try tepid water and take to a vet.

One of my biggest, and probably the most important things that I follow. It always makes me sad to hear my clients say that their dog was turned away for kennels/mass boarders because if their breed. The breed of a dog does not define its character.
