Wow what a week ๐๐ฅต๐ฅ๐ซ
All I can say is once again a huge THANK YOU to my invaluable walking, training and group class clients for your understanding, flexibility and trust this week, it really means the world to me.
The 5am starts I won't lie have been hard, but my it's been completely WORTH IT to ensure the pup's had a safe fun adventure ๐พ๐
Next week is looking back to normal ๐ so hopefully no more 06:30am Ninja India stealing your poochies for a little while ๐
This week has been very restricting on our dogs walks - however, did you know;
๐โโ๏ธ๐That only 10 minutes of scent work is equivalent to a 1 hour run!
๐คฏ๐If you put a dogs powerful sense of smell into vision, they can see from here all the way to NEW YORK CITY! (where as us humans if we put our sense of smell into vision we could maybe see less than 1 mile away)
Scent work is the BEST thing to do with your dog, it is low impact, easy to do, great fun, confidence boosting your dog and utilises their SUPERPOWER ๐ฆธโโ๏ธ

โข Picking up and walking amazing dogs in a variety of adventures in Andover (Group walks and Solo walks), p**p picking, washing down dogs if needed (muddy-hippo-dogs!) and dropping off the dogs.

โข Overnight pet sitting (staying overnight at a dogโs home, so extra cuddles with our canine best friends!)

This will start as a part time role where you will be working One to Two days per week with opportunity to add extra hours and add extra days over time.
Approximate working hours per day would be from 07:45am till 14:30pm and earn from ยฃ120 per day with these hours, with the potential to earn more money and hours through pet visits, overnight stays and assist in group classes.
*Day(s) flexible (Monday to Friday) but ideally to begin with same day(s) every week.
*Hours & wage may be adjusted with hot weather safety precautions.

Yesterday I had the honour of giving out my very first (handmade) Grade 1 Life Skills Rosette & Certificate to Winter and her very hard working dedicated guardian ๐๐
Winter successfully passed her Grade 1 by being able to complete some very important life skills in moderate distractions AND locations (including dogs, people and unusual environments)
Some of the Grade 1 included;

Distance control (sit and down whilst owner walked away)
Answering canine body language questions correctly

Chin (important for vet checks, health checks and grooming as well as bonding with your dog)

๏ธA out of control dog came running up to us today from over 500m away and we kept on moving to avoid conflict dispite the dog trying to pin us down and shove its nose up are ๐

๏ธWe stayed calm and under control as the said owner of dog finally came, screamed at us, blaming us for their out of control dog (even though you were all on lead and behaving very well disbite the issue) and we walked away calmly and with a tail wag ๐

This weeks Hide & Seek class not only welcomed a new Seeker to the team, (big welcome Seeker - Chase!) but all dogs were introduced to 'blind seek searches', where they didn't see where our hider went and hid ! The hider 'accidently' left a sock behind and we were able to track them down ๐พ๐
All dogs did incredibly well disbite there being a variety dogs and various people about, they are beginning to learn 'I'm a Seeker, I need to find them!' and get on the job ๐

In our first session we focused on the importance of play with our dogs, why it matters, eye contact, introduction to chin rest & the many benefits of teaching our dogs a solid chin rest.
The pups did incredible despite being somewhere new with new people and new dogs, well done Teams!

Our Hide & Seek group class last night absolutely SMASHED it! Each dog did complete blind searches (had no idea where the 'criminal who stole the treats') ran off to and hid and found them successfully without any issue! Seeker Bertie (Cockapoo) third session with us, nose glued to the ground! incredible work! The hider 'accidently' left a sock behind and we were able to track them down ๐พ๐ All dogs did incredibly well disbite there being a variety dogs and various people about, they are beginning to learn 'I'm a Seeker, I need to find them!' and get on the job ๐ We now have a mailing & waiting list for our Hide & Seek sessions, to be added please contact us. One of many benefits of training a 'helper dog', is you can ask them to shut doors on your fiance when they haven't got you Ben & Jerry's! ๐จ In all serious though, helper dogs are incredible! There are so many benefits - It gives the dog a job (explained below) More of a purpose, benefiting not only them but you as a care-giver as they will become more; Focused, more tired and fulfilled as they are using their incredible learning skills and completing tasks. Ultimately, it builds your relationship! โจ๏ธ๐ In this video, we are also teaching Roary to be okay with knocking - one of the most common behaviours is barking when the door goes, a knock, or other. So I am guiding him what to do in this situation and informing him that X is coming in, so he is expecting and instead of barking, being attentive on the job at hand. I hardly ever post videos/photos of my training clients, one of many reasons is because I'm so into the session I forget ! (So into the session it over runs too๐คฃ) So here's a 2 minute video of mine and Roarys mini training play session which we both look forward to at the end of working day just to enjoy together, recap on some training but most importantly bond. In this 2 minute session alone we covered a variety of training: Threshold- Roary had to wait for his Clicker/release cue to get the toy, Threshold training is important for dogs, especially those who are known for high prey drive, fomo, patience/resilience and so forth. Drop - drop is super important, even more so with breeds such as cockapoos which are known for resource guarding traits and incase of emergency. To Roary in this session and as part of many ways of effective training, called 'Premack principal ', which means I'll ask Roary to do something and in turn he will get what he wants, in this case a game of tug with Tug-E-Nuff toy, his ABSOLUTE favourite. Something he really doesn't want to lose but he knows, he is safe, he trusts me, and comfortable to drop, he won't lose something valuable but instead will get someone even better. Middle - Great trick to get your dog close to you, this can be useful in a variety of scenarios such as recall (clip dog back on lead), get out of the way of someone coming down the pathway, focus work and more. Chin - Chin is one of my favourite exercises to teach, it is so beneficial in so many ways: checking your dogs eyes, nose, mouth for any health issues (catch them early), for grooming and bonding. Touch - another simple and easy exercise to teach with so many benefits, you can encorperate this with recall, dog come close to you, target training, health examinations and more. Then a few other tricks like bench, funky nose in my circle finger and other awesome tricks he knows but aren't shown in this video. All of Roary's training is done without force

Forest, swim swims, fallen trees, variety of terrains, and most importantly friends to share it all with! Needless to say we were all in need of a full body shower and scrub after our walk!
