This is a returning customer, I did a semen check and ovulation test a few months ago for a Australian labradoodle pair. I supported the new stud owner and talked them through training a stud for natural covers.With my timing the boy managed it and the girl went on to have 7 puppies 💪.

Roll on to today I was asked to do the ovulation test on another girl as well as being booked to do a semen analysis on the stud.

I found the girl to be red hot ready and I advised she needed covering today, the stud who is young/ in his prime was used a few months ago and produced a good litter of 7 so I actually declined the semen analysis service.

Why did I do this? Because my client planned to mate this pair, I knew she needed covering. It would have been a disservice to take the sample loosing the mating today. These are not large dogs so he can only produce enough for one good cover a day. I did what was best for the owners and the mating/ season and the stud dog.

Congratulations to this owner who achieved a good natural cover as soon as they got home.

They had an A.I last time with this girl at a vets, I spoke at length and gave them enough courage and advice to try natural.

I do assist with hybrid breeds of dogs not just pedigree. This pair are fully health tested xrays, eye tests etc

When I personally have a new stud dog myself I do this test first to ensure the boy has viable swimmers. Once I have confirmed this I then go ahead and start health testing. There is no point me having hips/elbows/heart and eyes done (which is expensive) if he is not fertile.

Semen analysis is ideal for up and coming/ new prospective studs and older boys who have had a long gap between litters. I would also advise a check be done for boys who have had natural covers and several girls in succession have missed.

Update from a girl I did the ovulation testing for and sent to stud.

The owners on her last season went to stud on day 10/11with no success. This time they did ovulation testing with me, I did 2 tests and sent them on days 13-15 where she tied for 36 minutes.

Ovulation testing is £25 per test.

Congratulations to Kym Turner with your Queens newest litter.

Video sent to me today of a mum to be in labour. If your new to breeding this is what it looks like, she will pant, her tummy will go hard and she will actively dig up her bedding. Make sure you have lots of old towels and newspaper specifically so she can shred and dig to her hearts content. She was ovulation tested and ultrasound scanned here. Good luck guys it's going to be a long night.

A clear out and check on a handsome lab yesterday, the slide is a little cold but the boys are still going great.

A cute scan to end the day on. I scanned her last week and saw 3 but because the dog was hairy I advised the number was realistically between 3-5. The owners come back today for another scan so I could show her son. Today's scan showed 4 which is bang in the middle of what I advised to expect. We count together and I take videos so I can send it over to you. Counts are an approximation. First scan £35 Second scan £20

An ultrasound for a dog yesterday, Iv left the audio on this time so you can hear us chatting. I don't mind children coming/ the whole family I will get the kids involved 😁 30/31 days is the best time to scan this girl is closer to 35 days. Ultrasound scans are £35, videos and photos allowed, we do a rough count together so you know the minimum puppies expected.
