Hoping to push this show across your radar as three classes for both BFDB and wolfhounds in the Sounth aren’t too common. Also it’s not on fosse or higham, so might not be on your radar. You need to be “ Irish show ready “ for this one as it’s outdoors on bare fields( ie take shelter / sun brolly and chairs).

It’s also a lovely friendly show and deserves our support.

Remembering Nordic ch Mochras Marzipan today, lost to stomach cancer aged 14 yrs 4 months. She left me as a puppy to join Svein Erik and Hildegunn Fluge nr Bergen in Norway. I was happy to see her as an adult when I judged Wolfhounds there years ago.

A wonderful house pet and a hunting hound through and through. Svein wrote an article for a breed magazine which I reproduce below. Thank you Svein for sending wonderful photos of Missy through the years.

A hunters horn would now sound the “ gone away” in her memory. Well done Missy, legend in your local area and a dear friend to those who knew you.

Thank you Svein and Hildegunn for providing the perfect hound home for Missy.

These came up in memories today. 2012 for the group photo featuring Marionette’s mother and aunt as puppies. Another aunt, ch Mahogany, as a youngster. Annie’s mother Marmalade is behind her - who is fifteen in August. To the right Ch Melchior contemplating a toy rat. And the legs of one of my last Irish Wolfhounds.

Separately , Marionette as a puppy. We hope for a fifth generation from this side of the family before Nettie hits her fourth birthday next Spring. I love all my basset Fauves but it’s Marmie , Zetty and Nettie who form the affectionate heart of the family.

A weekend of south coast shows ✅

Southampton- in the rain:

Antonia won four firsts with Marmalade, her only exhibit this time. Two were huge all breed stakes classes with £40 prize money.

Razz won best AVNSC hound puppy- then second in the hound puppy group.

Dorset Canine :

Antonia won best AVNSC with Margaux ( plus a stakes class). She then won the Hound group!

Marmalade won another first place.

Razz was best AVNSC puppy - then third in the hound puppy group.

A very successful Hound show for Antonia Leech handling veteran Ch Conquistador to his tenth CC and young Mahgaux to her second CC and second Ch show best of breed , at only thirteen months of age. We co own Margaux, her sire Herbert belongs to Antonia and Jacqui Leech.

Mochrashounds took firsts and seconds in all their classes. Mahjesty ( Renee) was best special beginner and in the Final Cut in the group for Karen Jane.

Mahmalade - three firsts.

Renee- second to Marmie in junior.

Betsy- second to Marmie in post graduate.

Lady- second to Margaux in limit.

Ch Mahcushla ( current top fauve bitch at the half way point) second in open.

Baby Razz ( import, Sweden) second in puppy.

Well done everyone.

I think most of you know the story of the Fauveahoy puppies orphaned six weeks ago when their mother died during the caesarean to deliver ten puppies.

I have handreared five of them successfully. Four are with their breeder in Devon.

This is the little gang aged six weeks.

Thanking everyone for their congratulations. We really did have a superb Crufts. Seven firsts, three seconds, a third and a fourth across the eleven mochrashounds in attendance. All are house pets ( not kennel dogs) so showing is not their main role in life. Their owners had them perfectly groomed and in great condition.

Best of Breed Ch Mochras Mahcushla. Best dog her brother Mochras Mahster Ned.

Mochras Mahgaux ( Margaux) was best puppy and challenge certificate winner at the Ladies Kennel Association championship show at the weekend.

Her first show aged six months two weeks.

Co owned with Antonia Leech ( handler) sired by her Ch Conquistador ex Ch Mahcushla.

Quite the debut! Her sister Mahjesty also won a class and qualified for Crufts.

Marmalade is over twelve, her daughter Marmoset is nine, her son Marseillaise ( pictured as a puppy) is over six, his granddaughter Truffles is 14 months( lying on the decking). Zetty’s last daughter Marionette ( looking at the tree) is a year old. I love this family line. Always the sweetest natures, excellent at manipulating hoomans, agile problem solvers and always entertaining.
