The Hawk Conservancy Trust is an award-winning charity and visitor attraction, with a mission to conserve birds of prey and their habitats. Set in 22 acres of woodland and wildflower meadow, you can see an incredible range of different birds of prey species, from the tiny Burrowing Owl to the awesome Golden Eagle! Many of these birds are involved in our spectacular daily flying displays, whilst ot

hers are part of important breeding programmes. The Trust is also home to the National Bird of Prey Hospital™, that can treat up to 200 sick, injured and orphaned wild birds of prey each year. As well as a full daily timetable that includes flying displays, talks and activities, the Trust also offer a wide range of experiences to get even closer to these magnificent birds, as well as evening events to come back and see incredible bird-flights at different times of the day. 😍 Although Angola has been enjoying a bachelor lifestyle, he has reached an age where, in the wild, he might start looking for a breeding partner.

🌍 We're excited to share the Hawk Conservancy Trust has been invited to join the Secretary Bird breeding programme Species Committee!

🐣This means that while offering advice on caring for this Endangered species, we could also one day provide a home for a breeding pair and their chicks, helping to conserve this incredible species.

🦉Have you heard a Tawny Owl?

🧡Tawny Owls are silent, nighttime hunters 🐭 Beware! Sadly, this species is Amber-listed in the UK, but keeps your eyes peeled at dusk you may be lucky enough to spot a rusty-coloured feathery flash!

👂This species breeds in early spring, so listen out for the iconic call, the 'twit' & 'twoo' is a pair calling together!

Late winter is the perfect time to listen out for courting Buzzards, watch them soaring and maybe even grappling in flight as they prepare for breeding 😍

We have been monitoring numbers of Buzzards across southern England since 2010, and between autumn 2020 and spring 2024 we've recorded over 3300 sightings of this amazing species

❤ Good news for vultures! ❤

India has issued a national ban of veterinary nimesulide, a widely used non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug known to be highly toxic to vultures 👏 The drug is another painkiller that has been used to treat cattle instead of banned diclofenac, aceclofenac and ketoprofen drugs.

This recommendation was made after several studies demonstrated the drug’s harm to vultures, and it is fantastic news for vultures in South Asia. Hopefully other countries in the region will follow suit

The numbers are in for how many birds we fitted with BTO rings in 2024! Despite an injury during the year, our British Projects Manager Dr Matt Stevens was able to ring: 🦉 275 Barn Owls 🦉 182 Kestrels 🦉 60 Tawny Owls 🦉 7 Little Owls If you like owls and kestrels, you can help us put a ring on them! The Hawk Conservancy Trust is a conservation charity and award winning visitor centre, near Andover, in Hampshire, set in 22 acres of woodland and wildflower meadow. There are over 130 birds of prey on view, from owls to eagles! Every visitor gets to meet a bird of prey. There are spectacular daily flying demonstrations, a wild bird feed (winter only), keepers talks, and other activities to entertain every member of the family for a full day.
