A HUGE thank you to Sainsbury's, Holywood Exchange, for inviting us in-store and huge thanks to your exceptionally generous customers. Unfortunately no volunteers showed for the bag packing but Maureen with Poppy and Jess did a sterling job at front of store and raised a fantastic £310!
This will help pay some of our current vets bills for sure.
PS, the little kiddies were so taken with Poppy they came back for more scritches after their shopping 🥰

🐱 Announcement 😸
We are delighted to say that PlayforStrays and Lila's Legacy are joining forces 💪🏽
Our ethos has always been to help as many as possible, sharing is caring after all, and Janet from Lila's has the exact same mindset. Janet is also a stalwart of the cat community in NI and we can do so much more with our combined forces.
So, from this point forward we will be bringing most of your cat donations directly to Lila's. All cat rescues etc., should now contact Lila's directly and Janet will arrange distribution with you.
First donation done as you can see in the pics, and looking forward to a very successful partnership, resulting in even more cats being helped. 💜🐾

Our Dolly is home 😔
She returned in a beautiful casket, kindly donated by the special guys at Pets Farewell Crematorium.
We didn't expect the hoof print or lock of hair, and they will be treasured.
Dolly had a personality that was so much bigger than her physical size, and almost everyone that met her just adored her.
I'm glad she could live her days out here, but just wish it could have been longer.
I've had comments about the time and effort she needed, and how other things should have been prioritised. I can say, with hand on heart, I will put the welfare of any animal here before anything or anyone else....every single time. Even to my own detriment.
I started PlayforStrays, and subsequently the santcuary, knowing that it could be a lifelong commitment and I have no intention of changing that any time soon.
Dolly is missed terribly.

We weren't at Outreach very long last night, but we did manage to see 3 pups in person and also get toys and food to cats and dogs that couldn't make it.
It was our first time meeting Simba, the collie, and he got a new harness, lead, toys, treats and food. He's a wee legend.

With Sasha, from Prevent Pet Poverty, supporting more than 100 individual families, plus others in need for various reasons, we have donated all this to help support her efforts.
It is a huge amount that we know will keep animals with their families and OUT of rescue to begin with.

We donated 365kg of Guinea pig/rabbit food recently to Almost Home Animal Rescue NI who immediatley shared it with Northern Ireland Battery Hen Rescue.
If you're a rescue that could do with some, reach out to Almost Home directly, they're more than happy to share.

It is with profound sadness that I write this. Dolly and DG are gone 😢.
The past 24 hours have been horrendous with DG passing unexpectedly, although he did have arthritis and we were treating him for it, we didn't expect him to pass suddenly.
Then, with the advice of our lovely vet and surrounded by her carers and family Dolly also went over rainbow bridge.
Dolly enjoyed belly and ear scratches in her final moments, along with a heel of bread, her favourite treat.
As her carer it's important to me to be there in those final moments where possible.
DG and Dolly were not just sanctuary animals, they were family, and loved by many.
Both had the sweetest nature and loved nothing more than getting their treats and coming to say hi to everyone.
I don't know how animal rescue's do this day-in and day-out, but I do respect you greatly for it.
Thank you to everyone that donated to help Dolly over the past few weeks, I promise that we tried everything possible.
I also have a few others to thank, but will do that in another post.

As I am away with work for a week, an awesome friend and fellow rescuer has stepped up to help with Dolly.
We really need Dolly to start getting up on her own, but for now she is in the best hands possible.
PS, the hip clamp doesn't hurt and without it she wouldn't be standing at all..
