Making Your Choice:
Many people aren’t aware that they have an alternative choice of pet crematorium to the one offered by their vet but as your pet is so important to you it’s vital you make the right choice for you both.
Once you have decided cremation is right for your pet then we would highly recommend doing your research in advance as when the time comes it can be really difficult to make choices.
Take your time, ask questions, and know your options:
Ask your vet, ask us, ask friends, and ask family.
These are some of the things we feel are very important to ask when making arrangements for your pet’s final journey.
? Ask where your pet will go to be cremated. We are based in rural Angus. If you choose cremation through your vet it is very likely your pet will be sent to a large crematorium based in either the west or central Scotland.
As we are independent the only way your pet will come to us is if you make and specify that choice yourself. To do this inform your vet and contact us to make arrangements.
? Ask how your pet travels to and from the crematorium. We are always happy for you to bring your loved one to us, this lets us meet you and get to know a little about you and your pet – something we find really helps us in doing what we do. It also allows you to say farewell in a peaceful, relaxed setting. Alternatively, we can collect your pet either from home or from your vet surgery as an individual collection.
? Ask how easy it is to arrange. We don’t need notice in advance– a simple phone call (even on the day) or message is enough to start making arrangements for your pet’s cremation. We appreciate this can be a difficult call to make but we’re all able to help you through the process.
? Ask about cost – our prices are available to view on our website. www.redfordpetcrematorium.co.uk
? Ask about individual cremation. Some crematoria carry out both individual and communal cremations. Here at Redford, we only carry out individual cremations, this means we are able to return your pet’s full ashes to you. This is a service we are very passionate about providing. (Our only exception would ever be when two or more pets from the same family are cremated together at the owner’s request.)
? Ask others about their experience. Please check out our reviews on Facebook or Google or speak to someone who has used our service. As a private family run pet crematorium, we work independently and word of mouth is so very important to us.
? Ask how long it will be before your pet is ready to return home. In most circumstances we have your pet back home with you within 24 - 48 hours.
? Ask about standards. We are the only member of the Association of Private Pet Cemeteries and Crematoria (APPCC) in Tayside. We are also accredited with the Association which means we have demonstrated we comply with all aspects of their code of practice and customer service https://appcc.org.uk/the-code-of-practice
? Talk to us. We are able to discuss how we might help with your pet’s final journey and how to give them the loving farewell they deserve when the time comes. There’s no right or wrong way when making these decisions, we’ll accommodate what feels right for you and your loved one where possible.
Always remember it’s your choice.Thank you for reading and we’d love it if you would be kind enough to share…
