A client of ours has had a very friendly cat arrive in their garden, near the Newry Road, Armagh, in this past 24 hours. When it first arrived, it was wearing a collar, but has since lost it.
If you recognise them, please let us know so they can be reunited.

We had the lovely Angua in with us this morning for a workup of urinary problems, she had been having difficulty passing urine and her owner had seen some blood in it also.

After giving her a little sedation we performed an Ultrasound Scan and abdominal xray and diagnosed a case of bladder stones, we performed surgery right away and removed multiple stones from inside her urinary bladder. She is pictured here in her kennel and will be ready to be discharged home for rest and recovery later today!

She has been a great patient to deal with, not so much as a growl from her all morning! She should be a lot more comfortable with all those stones removed! She will have to stay on a special diet to help prevent these stones forming again, we wish her all the best in her recovery!

‼️ There will be significant disruption to our services on Friday 24 January between 7am and 2pm due to the Met Office’s red weather warning in relation to Storm Éowyn ‼️

🏥 We will focus on maintaining a safe emergency service during the closure. The safety of our staff and clients is our main concern. Try to keep your animals safe by keeping them indoors.

✖️ Our message to clients is that they should assume any scheduled appointments and planned procedures between 7am and 2pm are cancelled unless contacted by Orchard Vets to advise otherwise.

☎️ Given the advisory not to travel, we would encourage people to use our Out of Hours phone service for absolute emergencies only.

💻 Please keep an eye on our social media for updates but we plan to open the surgery at 2pm weather permitting.

🫶🏼 Take care of yourselves and your animals and stay safe.

The well named "Orchard" was in to see us this morning for a post op check and stitch removal.

She got knocked down a couple of weeks ago and was initially fighting for her life with severe chest bruising, some deep cuts and a broken hip. After stabilising her and treating her wounds for a few days, we then operated on her broken femoral head and neck to remove them in what's known as an FHO procedure.

This is where we cut off the broken femoral neck and also remove the severed femoral head from the hip joint, she will now learn to walk on a pseudoarthrosis/ false joint, where fibrous scar tissue will form around the top of the femur/ thigh bone over the next few weeks.

She is in great form and we wish her all the best in her recovery!

This 5 month old lurcher was feeling hungry after a day fishing with his owner. The blue glove on top of a pack of bacon and a snail was not a good combo! We administered an emetic drug to make him sick and were delighted to see the glove again!
