Emily gave birth to a litter on Friday day, unfortunately we suspected retained kittens which showed no sign of budging.

We took her to see The Small Pet Vet - Where the Small Things Matter who scanned and revealed more kittens. We proceeded with oxytocin, narrowly avoided a spay and managed to birth two more kittens.

Emily is fine, but unfortunately the kittens did not survive.

Yesterday we found Atom forever asleep. He was starting to show his age, but we did not expect to lose him imminently.

He leaves a big hole in the rattery, he sired many litters and produced some lovely babies. He was also our first Russian Wheaten Burmese. What a legacy he left.

This weekend we welcomed Emily back after her romantic stay with Rattie Asylum Stud Diablo, fingers crossed for some black babies!

And more exciting news we welcomed two Golden Siamese Buck Kittens (yet to be named). Hopefully these will be used in our Wheatens line in the future.

Unfortunately, we’ve had a rocky time with our rat breeding plans.

Oxanna has come back into heat twice after mating and Emily birthed a litter of two late on day 24. Both babies unfortunately did not survive.

I’ll be taking a little while to decide where to go from here.

Had a lovely day out today with Galactic Stud, and picked up 5 lovely Tonkles! 🪐 ✨

Breeding Tonkinese is back on the cards, and we are hoping to help towards getting them a standard.

Tonight we lost a very special rat. I found Rainmaker Fenella forever asleep.

Fenella won Rainmaker our stud name, for which I’ll never forget and always be thankful.

We will be sponsoring an Midlands Rat Club trophy in her memory.

We may be having a breeding hiatus, but that does not mean we have relinquished our rat life completely!

I’ve had a lovely day at Midlands Rat Club Blurton show. I had a pants week and it was such an uplift to see all my friends.

Massive thanks to Galactic Stud for pet judging last minute. A massive well done to Goedric's Hollow and all her wins (she swept the floor) and also for trumping all the ridiculously long pet names of The Small Pet Vet - Where the Small Things Matter.

Thanks to Rattie Asylum Stud for always lending a hand and talking me down when I’m stressed.

A EXTRA big thanks to Djelibeybi Rattery for chauffeuring me to the show! And a huge well done for winning BOA.
