On Friday 21st November the Ashbourne Branch held its AGM.
After the conclusion of AGM formalities His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant, and RBL County Patron, Elizabeth Fothergill CBE, along with County president Professor Paula Holt MBE DL, and County Vice Chair James Stafford DL visited the Branch.
With the visit by the Derbyshire Lieutenancy, we believe RBL history was made as, by quirk of fate, all three are Ashbourne Branch members and live within our catchment area.
We are sure this was quite a unique situation, not just for the Ashbourne Branch, but also for the RBL in Derbyshire as a whole.
As part of the visit, HM the Lord-Lieutenant was introduced by Branch Chairman, Capt Sam Vause.
Following the President’s Annual report of Branch activities, read by President Brell Ewart MBE DL, The Lord-Lieutenant presented an RBL Certificate of Merit to Poppy Collector, Bob Dyer, in recognition of his outstanding contribution over the years.
Bob’s commitment to the Poppy Appeal in Ashbourne is well-known and admired.
Pictures show Bob with His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant, Elizabeth Fothergill CBE, as well as Capt Sam Vause, James Stafford, HM the Lord-Lieutenant, Professor Paula Holt, and Brell Ewart.
