Someone knows how to make a statement on arrival ☺️

Waxed up in the afternoon, Sapphire made it to 339 days - so little one arrived bang on time.

However, I thought I’d pop home late evening and grab a bite to eat, watch the boys whilst Nick was out working, and anticipated a 2-3am wake up call.

So, much to the boys excitement, it was all a bit of a flap when I hoisted them back out of their evening bath, threw some clothes on them and back in the car up to the yard.

Sapphire had gone from 0-60….from eating her haynet merrily to flat out contractions. 16 minutes start to finish.

So whilst Rory watched on the stable cam whilst I what can only be described as ‘rallied’ up the lanes ….’Mummy, there’s a baby coming out’, in his own version of Spring Watch.

We arrived just in time, with Mummy Sapphire not yet standing, umbilical still attached.

The boys then sat with her whilst she cleansed, had hands on check of the placenta and got to watch her first steps at a very respectable 8.45pm x

Well, she’s a cracker.

The filly fairy had blessed us with the most beautiful piebald little girl and she’s just gorgeous.

Out of supermum Sedgehill Sapphire by Loanin Jools, she’s up and at it this evening at 1 day old…and I can already tell she’s a little monkey ☺️

Elswyth Shetlands have finally made it to Facebook!

A newly established herd in the Midlands, but selectively curated based on beautiful old lines, predominantly Southley, Riccalton, Hutton and Mousa.

Having evented for many years, often with a Shetland in the home paddock or on the lorry for company, 2023 saw me hang up my boots and I’m now living a lifelong dream to breed and show under our own prefix.

Wonderful temperaments, excellent bone and movement, correct confirmation, presence and charm…but first and foremost, British natives that are true to type.

These gorgeous little ponies are intelligent, affectionate and very rewarding, each has their own individual character. And often the best giver of hugs you’ll ever meet 💛
