βοΈ What is positive reinforcement training? βοΈ
Positive reinforcement training uses what your dog loves in order to get the best out of them...
It essentially shows the dog what we want of them and rewards them as it happens... This type of training doesn't scare or punish your dog for doing something undesired, instead it encourages us to think about how we can show them what we would like them to do in that situation (e.g., redirection or further guidance)...
We can't expect our dog to know what we expect of them, without first showing them (and rewarding it)! β

βοΈ BΜΆAΜΆDΜΆ ΜΆDΜΆOΜΆGΜΆSΜΆ βοΈ... Wrong dogs!
Historically, every breed was used for a purpose, meaning no dog breed is a 'bad dog breed'... Unfortunately, however, some breeds are unsuitable for many modern lifestyles or owner experience.

Heightening the value of reinforcers!β¬οΈ
The same reinforcer can have multiple values based on how it's presented to your dog!π₯π₯π₯

(Note - the value of a reinforcer is determined by your dog, so find out what they love most by trialling all methods!)

πβπ¦ΊLOOSE LEAD WALKING!πβπ¦Ί
With only 1 small change, Emmettβs lead walking changed from strained shoulders and buckled backs to a leisurely, relaxing stroll with a lovely loose lead.
- - - - - - - - - -
Note β Emmett has been trained in loose lead walking for some time (but is going through adolescence). This video shows the significance of one small change being the difference between success and failure... It does not, however, suggest that this change alone will provide these outstanding results.
[In the second clip, Emmett is wearing a Halti head collar (but is not in use). This is the ownerβs choice due to the wet & slippery conditions, and it simply gives them additional confidence, control, and management if/where needed]
