Hollie, owner of Kent Animal Training, has been training animals for over 15 years. Having studied with the IMDT (Institute of Modern Dog Trainers) and ABTC (Animal Behaviour Training Council), she spends most of her time sharing her knowledge to help train dogs of all breeds, ages and temperaments. Hollie's approach is always welcoming and she is someone who is always ready to help. Seeking guida

Although Hollie spends most of her time helping owners train their dogs, she has experience training horses, cats and parrots. Hollie also has experience training a number of different species (including wolves, chimpanzees, bears, otters, tigers and more) and is a Zoo Animal Training Officer responsible for overseeing the creation, development and implementation of training and behaviour modification programmes.

Hollie is based in the Kent area, is able to travel for appointments and is flexible with bookings to suit your needs.

The Choice Game – where scentwork begins!

Before our dogs start searching like pros, we first teach them what scent to look for.
“The Choice Game” helps your dog learn to identify their target scent — calmly, confidently, and with focus 🐶✨

It’s not about speed yet… it’s about understanding 💡
Your dog learns:
🔹 To choose the correct scent
🔹 To offer the target indication behaviour
🔹 To build value and confidence in scentwork from the start

This early foundation sets them up for success as searches get more complex later on!

🎥 Reactivity — it’s not about being “naughty”!

Your dog isn’t giving you a hard time — they’re having a hard time. ❤️
Here are a few quick tips to help your reactive dog feel calmer and more confident 👇

🐾 1️⃣ Create distance – space is your best friend.
🐾 2️⃣ Watch their body language – small signs (lip lick, head turn) matter!
🐾 3️⃣ Reinforce calm – reward what you want to see, not what you don’t.
🐾 4️⃣ Manage the environment – set them up for success, not stress.

👋 I’m back! It’s been a busy month behind the scenes — but what a month it’s been! 🐾✨

From College of Scent Dogs courses (and even a murder mystery! 🔎) to passing our Gundog Grade 1, running therapy dog assessments, workshops in Kent, and competition scent dog trials… it’s been non-stop!

Looking ahead, I’m so excited for what’s coming:
