🎄 Closed for Christmas 🎄

I’ll be taking a short break from 22nd December to 5th January to switch off and enjoy some festive time with my family and lovely doggos! I’ll be checking emails now and then, but replies may be slow, so please don’t expect to hear back until after this period.

Thank you so much to all of my lovely clients and customers for your continued support and for booking in with me this year — I genuinely appreciate it.

A big thank you as well to Sam, my brilliant assistant, for all her hard work and support, and for doing such a great job with our puppy and juniors classes — you’re amazing and I couldn’t do it without you.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year 🎅🐾
See you in 2026 ✨

🐾 **Heel Work in Action!** 🐾
Watch this young springer spaniel, Bob and his owner practicing heel work and heel sits— an important skill for gundog training but also incredibly valuable for everyday life. 🦮

Why is it so important? For gundogs, mastering heel work helps keep focus and control during fieldwork. But it’s just as helpful for daily walks, keeping your dog calm, safe, and well-mannered on the lead. 🐕

Whether you're training for a specific purpose or just want better control on walks, heel work is a key foundation for every dog.

📅 **Ready to get started?** Book a session today and start building those important skills with your dog!

Old dogs can’t learn new tricks? Think again! 🐾.

Your dog might be adolescent who needs a little help navigating their big hormone and growth changes.

Or they might be a rescue and you need to build on your bond, so they learn to feel safe and trust you.

You might have a high energy dog that needs some help with self control.

Or you may just want to have a go at some group classes, and need a place to start.

Our juniors class is the perfect setting for dogs older than 6 months. It covers all those things, as well as building on foundation behaviours.

Interested?

Our next class starts on 3rd January, at 9.30am in Shadoxhurst. Why not drop us an email to [email protected] to see what it’s all about.

👃✨ **Scentwork = Confidence** ✨👃
Scentwork isn’t just about finding scents — it’s a game-changer for nervous dogs! It helps build confidence, focus, and trust in themselves. 🐾

This is Cerys. Cerys started scentwork with me before I went on maternity. She's an ex street dog and incredibly neophobic (scared of new/novel things). After a big break she joined me back for level 2. In level 1 and her first round of level 2, she would not search for gunoil. So we did food searches with gunoil, slowly phasing out the food. She also would not step more than a ft away from mum, and would give up and ask mum to help if there wasn't a hit within the first 10 seconds of her searching. She is also incredibly sensitive to any sort of lead pressure - even the buckle clip flipping to the other side!

I am incredibly proud of this team. This is Cerys searching for just gunoil (no food) for the first time. Her handler doesn't know this. Cerys knows the job, as you can see she gives 3 looks towards the odour, but is either a little unsure because there's no food there too, or because it's not a visible hide. When she gets it, you instantly see how much looser her body language is, and in fear of anthropomorphizing, she seems proud! So much so, during my attempted debrief, she goes in again!

We gets some lovely independent searching in corners until we ask her to search two shelves. Again, she looks a little unsure to commit so goes back to hit the first hide. I have no problem with this. This little dog is using her brain independently of mum having to give her any cues. What a moment.

So proud of team Cerys!

Well done to our trackers who graduated today.

Due to a spate of illness and injuries (when it rains it pours) we had Honey and Bella graduate today. They tackled open boxes, with long lengths and finally a team track to finish off. Smashed it ladies!

Don't worry, our other trackers will graduate in tracking club that starts in the new year.

Great end to the course.

And that’s a wrap on our last 2025 Juniors Class! 🎓🐾

These cuties had their graduation last weekend, and watching them grow over the last 6 weeks has been amazing.

We’ve seen them develop impulse control skills, ramp up their engagement with their owners through play and learning the exercises together and most importantly, we’ve seen their owners thrive!

Well done Buddy, Bruce, Lottie and Reggie, and hope to see you all again soon 🐾

Out for a peaceful walk with Watson through some sheep this week, and things took an unexpected turn. While filming an educational video, an off-lead collie suddenly appeared from the woods, chasing the flock. The owner was shouting its name, trying to call it back, but we all know how unpredictable situations like this can be.

I want to emphasize – this isn’t about shaming anyone, it’s about educating ourselves as dog owners. This situation highlights the importance of good recall and the use of a longline when walking near livestock 🐑. With the recent changes in UK law around dogs and livestock, it’s crucial we understand the responsibility we have when enjoying outdoor spaces with our dogs.

Let’s be mindful and respectful of farmers and animals while also giving our dogs the training they need to stay safe and under control. It’s all about working together to make sure everyone, human and animal, stays safe.
