Bert the border terrier lives his life at 100mph and he can get over-stimulated by scent and tracking on walks.... which results in frantic on-leash behaviours.
We have been doing some weekly training walks to teach him how to check-in regularly and stay within the confines of the 10m lead to prevent pulling.
My shoulder feels much better this weekend so I think we're making progress.
Love him ❤️
Upping the ante by retrieving an item of value (phone).....internally I was praying he didn't drop it in the water bucket 🙈
Love how Frankie knows who it belongs to and what is expected from him ❤️
This behaviour is created by building strong bonds with the owner through positive reinforcement.
The tables turned and I received some training today 😯...on how to be a wheelchair user with a dog.
It was so interesting to experience service-dog training from my clients perspective and it hammered home just how reliable Frankie has to be in all scenarios 😬
So here we are nailing a loose lead walk with the chair but throw a random dog in to the mix and his training is quickly forgotten 😔...Watch this space to see his progress 👍
Thank you Carla for providing me with the opportunity... Hope I didn't scratch your alloys 😬
Baby Maple has joined the Monday misfits group and I'm a little bit in love 🥹...
At only 5 months old, she's gangly, uncoordinated and just gorgeous ❤️
What's a girl to do when she's in-love? 🥹❤️
Dora flirted like this with Malcolm for the whole of the social today.... so cute to watch.
Frankie loose leash walking part 2: the one where life threw a distraction at us and we turned it into a training opportunity 😎
The shouting was a fair distance away and not at us thankfully but it startled both of us initially. Frankie handled it like a star 🌟
Apologies for the terrible camera skills and the massive bag of poop which makes an appearance (he had 3 whopping poops on that walk! 🙈)
Ushi's first play with another dog and my heart could literally burst 🥹😍
Ushi started life with guide dogs for the blind and she would've been an excellent guide dog... Luckily for us, she's been given a very early retirement and has been attending our socials for the past few months.
Ushi is often out fundraising with her dedicated owners at Dobbies or a local supermarket, so please look out for her on your travels (she loves a fuss 😊)
Up until now, Ushi has kept a "safe" distance from the other dogs and has preferred the company of people at the socials... Then suddenly she's playing with Tawny 😲
I love how Tawny desperately wants to play but understands how tentative Ushi is so she maintains a down position to encourage Ushi to interact with her... The last surprise ambush was a bit too much for Ushi and she lays down to signal that play is definitely over 😂.... it's a fabulous start tho.. Watch this space 😊
A friendship between a bulldog and an English setter was not a pairing I would expect... But here's Brucey and Jimbo proving me wrong 😍
The other socialites are.... Lucy, Daisy, Chester, Bob, Gertie, Ushi, Jacob, Stokesy, Callie and Tawny
