Not gonna lie... Weather forecast for tomorrow (Sunday) is pants 🌧️❄️🌧️❄️

I know some dog's and their owners will want to attend come rain or shine (or sleet, or snow).. So if you have a booking for tomorrow and would still like to attend that booking, or you're thinking of booking in for tomorrow's social, can you drop me a message and I will see if we have enough interest for training and socials to warrant Melissa and I getting frostbite 😂

Two dogs at very different ends of the spectrum.... and beautiful Bella is helping me with both ❤️

George the dachshund is incredibly nervous and wary of other dogs but yesterday he edged forward and sniffed Bella's ear for the first time 🥹

Greselada gets over-excited by other dogs but she is learning how to disengage and recall from distractions.

Behaviour training doesn't involve large groups of dog's all following the instructors agenda.

We assess the individual needs of your dog, teach you how to decipher their behaviour and how to effectively alter their perception of threats or stimulus in their environment (using only positive reinforcement).

Behind every behaviour is an emotion.

Melissa and I focus on modifying how your dog "feels", so that we can deliver long lasting changes to improve your dog's mental health and lifestyle.

A dog trainer would teach both these dogs to "ignore" other dogs, but that doesn't change how they feel and won't resolve behaviour problems.
In this scenario, George would eventually bite a dog which came too close and Greselada would be bitten for being too intense.

If you have a dog which could be typed under the xl bully ban... Write to your MP and tell them the impact it will have on your life/family.

If you have any other large breed, muscular dog (rotti, mastiff, cane corso, ridgeback) you should also be fighting this ban because the "typing process" will be applied to many different breeds and the last two decades have seen plenty of staffies x labradors be euthanized as pitbulls under BSL.

Don't waste this opportunity to fight for your dog... Your MP needs to know how many people it will effect.

Despite the monsoon conditions outside, the met office is promising a dry and sunny afternoon for socials tomorrow 😍🙌

Still a few spaces left and what better way for your dog or puppy let off steam after the last few day’s indoors.

The calendar closes at midnight so don’t delay.

Our field drains quite quickly so I’m not expecting it to be muddy but we would recommend wearing waterproof footwear.

So saddened by the news that XL bullies are to be placed on the banned list. I know most owners will pay £96 and get their pet dogs exempted by the end of the year, but the rescue dogs can’t be exempted without an owner and will be destroyed by Christmas 💔

We need to work together to find a way to save as many of these precious souls as possible.

If you have the capacity to adopt a XL bully and take it through the exemption process, then Melissa and I will offer free training once a week and as much remote support as you need to help your dog settle.

Or if anyone wants to buy us a house and some land so we can adopt as many XL bullies that we can and give them the life they deserve 🙏

Please ask yourself if you can save a life?
It has never been so urgent 😔

I am so friggin angry…our government has banned yet another breed of dog when the current legislation to keep the public safe doesn’t work.

They’re offering a sickening £200 in compensation if you choose to murder your family pet instead of registering them as a banned breed.

I’m so sorry to all the big, lovable dogs in rescue who now face euthanasia and will never experience the warmth and security of a loving home….you are too precious for this ugly world 😭

From 31 December 2023 breeding, selling, advertising, rehoming, abandoning and allowing an XL Bully dog to stray will be illegal.

So you’ve probably seen his videos, but until recently, I had never met a dog who had actually received training from Mr.Southend (thankfully too far away from our corner of Kent).
Miley the bulldog had the unfortunate pleasure of meeting him and the advice was as expected…utter nonsense! Owner was given a deterrent spray and prong collar to “control” her aggressive outbursts.

I met a dog who was highly anxious and not living a lifestyle that allowed her to decompress.

What was really noticeable was her terrible breathing….occluded nostril’s and a soft pallet that was too long for her mouth resulted in a lack of oxygen to the brain which inhibited her confidence and forced her to make reactive decisions. I suggested a consultation with her vets and two weeks later she had the op (nostrils and soft pallet)….the change in her is like night and day 😍

A good trainer doesn’t look to “control” the symptoms of the behaviour, but tries to discover the underlying cause of the behaviour.

In Miley’s case, she just needed to breathe, but in a lot of cases diet, sleep, exercise, health, routine and environment all play a large part in your dog’s behaviour…so if your trainer hasn’t inquired about these aspects of your dog’s life, they’re not trying to find the cause and the training could be ineffective.

Miley is a very lucky rescue dog, many of these problems go unnoticed and some trainers would use increasing amounts of force on a dog this strong and reactive…this ultimately leads to a more aggressive dog and then they’re pts 😔

Miley is now learning to live peacefully alongside her 3 companion dogs without tearing chunks out of them….even snuggled up and licked the ear of one them 🥹…those kind of report’s really make my day 😍

Update on Marley

It’s been a couple months since Marley switched from a kibble diet to butternut box.

We’ve made some discoveries along the way (he was allergic to Yumove) and he’s not 100% “cured” so we think he may be intolerant to carrot, but the improvements are startling ….

He has noticeably lost weight.
He has way more vitality and outruns his companion dog Luna!
He can jump comfortably in and out of my van and onto the beds at home (had to be helped before).
He only poops twice a day and they are consistently firm (used to yo-yo between soft and runny).
His pink bits are so much better and his lovely white coat is growing back.
The sores on his feet have disappeared.
His ears are also much better and whilst he’s still sensitive to having them cleaned, he isn’t scratching at them anymore.

The improvements from diet alone have been remarkable.

The flower is to save jealousy from any male dogs seeing this 😎 (he was “excited” to show you his transformation)

My butternut box discount code is Rochelle24 but I also recommend Different Dog and have nothing to gain from the recommendation.

I truly believe a fresh, healthy diet for your dog (wherever that comes from) will resolve so many health and behaviour issues.

Most of these companies have an introductory offer that will cost you the same (or less) than your current food for the first month….so give it a trial for a month and see if the changes are as noticeable for your dog (must cut out processed dog treats and chews to see effects of a fresh diet without preservatives)…you have nothing to lose 🤷‍♀️

🌼 I love everything about my job... except this...

You allow us the honour and privilege of sharing your dog's company, but this comes at a huge cost, because one day we will also share in the grief of losing them when they pass.

I have shed more than a few tears today 😭

Daisy went to rainbow bridge 💔

Daisy had the most beautiful eyes which could look deep into your soul and a serenity which is hard to describe.

She was never flustered or anxious, her matriarch presence was palpable and every dog liked and respected her.

She will be sorely missed but I'm certain her consciousness will live on and she will save humanity in her next life.

Sending our condolences and love to her family who've sadly experienced the loss of two pets in a short space of time.

Daisy was an earth-angel and we were so lucky to have known her.

Sad day today......oscar-dog got his angel wings to rainbow bridge 💔

Oscar was our very first client at Waggy Walks and the first two pictures are from May 2018 when we opened 🥺

He was a lovely, sweet-natured dog with oodles of charm and character and he will be sorely missed by us and his friends at Waggy Walks.

Deepest condolences go to his mum at this sad time and we hope that looking at these photos of him from over the years will bring some small comfort.

I know that wherever you are Oscar-dog.. You will have a squeaky toy and a large window to observe your domain.
Until we meet again little man.. RIP xx
