So a lot of you will know in December I had a baby, so for the last few months I haven’t been breeding, starting next week we will be pairing up birds & moving them to breeding cages 😃

The hand rearing my dad does isn’t always just to make tame birds, meet Lucky, unfortunately came from a clutch of 8 with health problems, after attempting to save all of them unfortunately 7 out the 8 passed away and Lucky was left, we didn’t think she was going to make it but with love, care and patience my dad got her to a normal bird, she’s now healthy, happy and full of life and is definitely lucky to be here, my dads determination definitely payed off, she’s a bit wet in the second pic lol 💗

Hii everyone! It’s that time of year again, the weather is getting warmer, bugs are out in full force so here’s just a friendly reminder for all of you with birds or those who are wanting to get birds 😊

make sure all fans have cages on, fans are lovely to have in the hot weather but they can also be extremely dangerous for birds and can cause a bad injury or even death to your bird, please make sure they are caged and if you have a fan on a stand make sure it’s not directly pointed at your birds cage.

Sticky bug traps, make sure you do not have any sort of sticky bug traps where your bird is, if your bird manages to get out of its cage or if you let your bird out it can get stuck on or in the bug trap, also the glue can get stuck in the birds feathers, ive unfortunately seen a lot of peoples birds recently get caught in these or have the glue stuck to them so please don’t have them around your bird.

Windows, make sure to keep your windows closed, if your bird gets out the cage it could potentially escape your home out the window, unfortunately this happens to thousands of birds a year, having your window open can be lovely in this weather but is not worth the risk, if you have smaller birds I have put a screenshot of a netting for windows that we use here so the window can be open but the birds cannot escape, these nets are fantastic and we have used them for a couple of years now, we have only used them with smaller birds so are unsure if they’d be suitable for parrots, we haven’t had our birds out in a room with these nets up but we have kept these nets in our bird room in case any got out there cages which did happen and the birds didn’t manage to get out the window.

Drafts, also make sure if you open your window to make sure there isn’t a draft to your birds cage, drafts are dangerous for birds and can cause colds and birds to get poorly which can lead to death, make sure to move your birds cage somewhere that hasn’t got a draft.
