Is anyone looking for a lovely friendly cockerel to look after their hens? This poor boy was abandoned in a community garden in Newcastle and is looking for his forever home.

Thankyou to all our lovely rehomers from this last weekend. Lots asked about our poorly hen so here’s an update:

She was off her feet, so we warmed her up with cuddles and as she wasn’t drinking or eating and gave her a tube feed which perked her up in about half an hour.

She’s started eating and drinking, enjoyed a warm soak in Epsom salts and laid 2 eggs at once, one very soft with no shell.

She’s been reclining in our chicken wheelchair with lots of fuss, plenty of food with added vitamins and fresh water.

We are hoping she regains use of her legs today as she gets stronger.

Her appetite has definitely gotten better today ☺️🐔

A fantastic day today, 95 hens off to their new forever homes 🤩 we also loved the carrier one little girl brought for her new chicken, so cute 🥰
Thankyou to our lovely volunteer for your help catching hens, they were a lively bunch today!

This poor little guy is still looking for some ladies to love and protect, he is getting lonely and would love to have a home to call his own.

If you’re collecting from us on the 31st August and are interested in him please let us know, he would be so grateful for a chance.

He was found dumped and had to fend for himself for a week, luckily he survived and was caught and brought to us.

New dates are live on the website!

We have 4 farms coming up over 3 dates, with a total of 10,500 hens looking for homes.

Hens are all free range and those available on 31st August are free range organic.

With almost 100 collection points open for you to choose from, you are spoiled for choice!

It’s rehoming week at Ashington, we are opening on Saturday and all the preparations are under way for our ‘pop-up’ collection point ☺️

Everyone has been sent emails with times to collect their hens and it would be great if you could reply promptly so the farm teams know how many hens to send to us in plenty of time.

Does your garden lack chickens? You can make a huge difference by giving rescue hens a loving forever home.
These ex commercial hens are around 72 weeks old. They are sadly headed for slaughter because they are no longer cost efficient to the egg farms. They may slow down their laying, but most are laying, and nothing beats fresh eggs from your own hens.
They are, with a little time and tlc, friendly and inquisitive. They make great pets, and are quite intelligent. You can save them!

This handsome cockerel was sadly dumped on the roadside and left to fend for himself, he escaped capture living wild for a week before he was brought here.
He has settled in well and is friendly, but he needs a flock of his own to call home. Do you have space for this gorgeous coloured boy?
