It is with great sorrow that Jackie and I have to announce the passing of lovely Violet. She had been poorly for a very short time, but after veterinary examination, widespread cancer was discovered. Her family had no alternative, and made her passage over Rainbow Bridge a swift and painless journey. Most of us know that this selfless, and merciful action is absolutely heartbreaking, but it's the most loving act we ever do for our beloved dogs. Violet was only eight years old, so she was taken from her devastated family far too soon.
Jackie and I are abroad at the moment, so please forgive us for not naming Violet's siblings, but we neither have access to our file, or photographs.
I'm sure that many of you will want to join us in sending Pat and family our most sincere condolences at this very sad time.
We're sure that Violet's Dad will have greeted her lovingly at the far side of the bridge, and that her Aunty Toyt will be mothering her, but those left behind are grieving her absence profoundly.

Jackie and I are pleased to tell you that Jemma is back home. She greeted us very enthusiastically at the Veterinary surgery late this afternoon, and it was heartwarming to see her behaving in her usual manner. She'd eaten several small meals of chicken and rice Chappie at the Vets, and ate a further half tin when we got home. We'll offer her the other half later on in the evening. She's settled down now. I suspect that she hasn't slept much during her time in hospital. So, it looks like she's making a good recovery. We'll never know for certain what made her poorly, but the Vet said that the most likely cause was something she'd eaten on the beach! A muzzle will have to be used in future......probably for all 5, as they're all dustbins! We're very relieved though.

Poor Jemma is in the Sick Bay at the Vets. It All started yesterday (Monday). She was sick about 5.30am just after her Mother Jess had thrown up then Paddy threw up. When they go down on the beach they treat it as a Buffet, sea kelp, crabs, dog fish or what ever they find. Paddy threw up crab shells, Jess & Jemma it was sea kelp. They all seamed fine after throwing up and ate their breakfast. Then Jemma threw up all her breakfast but before we could get it cleaned up she was scoffing it back down again but threw it back up. she never got the chance to scoff it a second time.

She went on the beach and was fine with Rio and Maple. Ian took Jess & Paddy down to the beach for their walk. While he was out Jemma was trying to throw up again and it was as if something was stuck that she could not get up. Ian came back and I said we are going to have to take Jemma to the Vets as she is going flat and down.

I rang the Vets and told them I was bringing Jemma and why. When we got there the Vet examined her and thought she could feel something in her tummy. We had to leave her and they were going to sedate her and do some x-rays to see what if anything was causing he to so flat.

The vet called to say they had done the X-rays and nothing could be seen or was showing up on the x-rays and they would discharge her around teatime after the sedation had wore off. Her temperature was 37.4 which they said was ok and her heart was sound.

When we collected her she seemed to be ok or she was just pleased to see us. When we got home we offered her some chicken and rice which she just sniffed and walked away. So I gave her some milk which she lapped up no problem and them had a bit more. Ian tried to give her pieces of ham but she did not want to eat. Then she started to be sick again but it was just the milk coming up. They had given her a anti sickness jab in the afternoon just incase she was feeling nausea. I called the Vets as they do out of hours and spoke to the vet on duty and took her down to see him. He examined her and her temperature was the low end of normal and heart was ok and was not dehydrated.

He said he could keep her in and put her on a drip but as she was not dehydrated she might be better going home and we could keep an eye on her and just make sure she drinks. We did bring her home and she had a good drink of water but would not eat. I offered her milk about 2am last night but she turned it down and also some canned meat. She was flat but not dehydrated and her temp was 37.2. We went to bed with her sleeping on the Bed. When I get up at about 6.30 she was trying to heave again and was again flat.

I sent the Vet a message on Pets App saying we would be brining Jemma back to them again as soon as they were open. We did not offer her any food or water as I wanted the Camera down her throat and her gut to check there was nothing stuck or blocking.
when we got there I said what she had been doing and again they examined her but could feel nothing. I again asked them to put the camera down and she said she would and also they would take more x-rays.

The Vet rang this afternoon to say there was nothing to be seen on the camera in her gut or throat. The x-rays again showed nothing but they wanted to keep her to get fluids into her and see what is happening tomorrow morning. I am unsure if they have taken bloods from her to see if anything is showing up that could be causing her to feel the way she is.

Its been a long LONG day and will be tonight as well I would imagine.

One thing I do know is I am going to BUY 5 LIGHT WEIGHT MUZZELS to stop all of them feasting or trying to. Rio and Maple guzzle as well but are never sick like Jess, Jemma & Paddy.

I just love this, and it's absolutely right!

Jackie and I are very sad to announce that gorgeous Winston crossed Rainbow Bridge on Tuesday. He was one of seven pups born to our late Toyt, and their Dad was Scooby (also JJ's Dad) on the 5th of May 2013.
Needless to say, Chrissie, Peter, and family are heartbroken, and miss their boy dreadfully. It's the hardest part of welcoming a dog into your family, and we mourn their loss as much as any other member.
We send our heartfelt condolences knowing exactly their pain, and I'm sure that many of you will also want to express your sympathy.
Rest in peace beautiful boy.....until we meet again, but you're back with your Mum now ###

A very pleasant morning beach walk this morning. Tide was well out, and I paused to take a few photos, and to remind myself just how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful place.

Today Jackie and I would like to wish a very HAPPY 11th BIRTHDAY to:- LULU, POPPY, PERRIER, CAVA, BRONTE, HYACINTH, JAKE, LEXI, and last but not least POPPY ( #2). How on Earth can you be 10 already.
This is the litter that JJ's Dad (Scooby) was supposed to sire, however JJ had other ideas! These gorgeous 11year olds were JJ's first babies! Both he, and their Mum Toyt (pictured) will be sending their love, along with licks and slobbery kisses from beyond Rainbow Bridge.
We know that these birthday babies will be being spoilt rotten on their very special day, but we'd like to send each of them an extra special cuddle form us, and the pack. Have a wonderful day all of you. ###

Our sincere apologies! We missed an important birthday on the 30th August!
So, Jackie and I would like to wish a belated HAPPY 8th BIRTHDAY to :- ROXY, CINDERS, CIARA, SABA, FREYA, and not forgetting beautiful DARCEY, who crossed Rainbow Bridge far too soon.
We know that their late Mum and Dad won't have forgotten their birthday, and will have sent licks and slobbery kisses to each and every one of them. Hopefully, Darsey is happily reunited with her loving parents.
We're sure that a good day was had by all, and that lovely Darcey was looking down wishing her siblings a very happy day.
Jackie and I send our love ###.

Paddy had his six week postoperative x-ray yesterday. Our Vet (Paddy's orthopedic surgeon) was very pleased with his progress following cruciate ligament surgery, and gave us the go ahead for off lead walks. Not too far to begin with, but building up to longer ones gradually.
So, this was this gorgeous boys first beach walk for over six weeks. He thoroughly enjoyed his freedom and a much loved location.

We postponed our daily beach walk by half an hour this morning to let the rain pass over. I tried to listen to Whitney Houston on the radio whilst driving the two miles down to Drigg Beach, but the dogs barked incessantly the whole way....absolute pandemonium, so it was hopeless!
As you'll see, the dogs (along with my Sister's two Border Collies) had a wonderful time once again. It was rather blustery, but the weather tomorrow looks like it could be a day at home!

Maple just about to enjoy her birthday cake. She shared it of course with the rest of the pack. It didn't last long!
