Postal Service Strikes Update

Royal Mail have made an announcement regarding further strike action that will be taking place on the following dates:

9th December 2022
11th December 2022
14th December 2022
15th December 2022
23rd December 2022
24th December 2022

With postal services becoming more unreliable and often delayed in the lead up to the festive period we are recommending that all post is either sent Special Delivery, via courier or dropped in by hand to the laboratory reception.

We have a stock of pre-paid special delivery envelopes available. If you require these, please call our Admin department on 01953 455454 or email [email protected]

For samples needing testing in the lead up to Christmas we are recommending that you post your items on the 19th or 20th December 2022 at the latest and by special delivery to ensure they are not caught up in the delays and are processed in plenty of time before the Christmas period.

Housing Order Announced 00:01 on Monday 7th November 2022
Housing measures to protect poultry and captive birds from avian influenza are being extended and will be in force across England from 00:01 on Monday 7th November 2022.

This means that, from this time, it will be a mandatory requirement for all bird keepers across England to keep their birds housed and to follow strict biosecurity measures, in order to limit the spread and to eradicate the disease.

Definitive requirements are set out in the published declarations for each disease control zone currently in force.

As you may be aware, there are several upcoming Royal Mail postal strikes that will likely result in delays in your samples arriving with us at the laboratory. Strike action will currently take place on the following dates:

• Friday 30 September 2022 and Saturday 1 October 2022
• Thursday 13th October 2022
• Thursday 20th October 2022
• Tuesday 25th October 2022
• Monday 28th November 2022

To limit delays as much as possible, please post your samples in advance of any strike action.

For time dependent samples, we would recommend avoiding sending them to the lab via Royal Mail over these periods to prevent them being held in transit. You may wish to look into alternative means of sending in your samples during the strikes, such as by using a courier.

The date of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s State Funeral, Monday 19 September, will be a national Bank Holiday. This will allow individuals, businesses, and other organisations to pay their respects to Her Majesty and commemorate Her reign.

Crowshall Veterinary Services will offer an emergency service only on this date with the Practice and laboratory operational between 8:30am and 12:00pm for urgent samples and testing only.

Important notice: delays due to Royal Mail postal strikes

As you may be aware, there are two upcoming Royal Mail postal strikes on 26th-31st August and 8th-9th September. This will likely result in delays in your samples arriving with us at the laboratory.

OV Avian Exports Panel OCQ (V)- AX,
OV Products Panel- OCQ(V) PX,
Previous experience preferred,
Hatchery visits for Day old chick and egg exports,
Processing plant visits for products exports,
Pet Food plants for products exports,
Farm visits for Poultry Health Scheme inspections,

We have been notified that Anglian Water will be carrying out works along Crows Hall Lane from 5th May to 9th May. Access to the Practice will be affected during this time and you may experience some delays.

If you have any problems getting to the Practice due to the road works please contact us.
