Parvovirus increased cases.

πŸ₯ΉRecently, there has been an increase in reported cases of Parvovirus.

🐢If you have made a booking with us and your dog displays any of the below symptoms please alert us straight away. We will reschedule your booking.

🐢If your dog becomes ill after you've been at the dog park again please make us aware.

Dogs catch bugs just the same as us.

🐢If your dog is unwell stay at home don't exercise your dog in public places, your only spreading whatever bug they have. Isolate at home.

🐢We are very particular about cleaning up behind your dog at the dog park and this is why.

🐢If your dog is ill while at the dog park please let us know, clean up everything and wash the area with a full watering can. A shovel and watering can are provided in each area to help.

🐢Never leave grass covered poo .... remove all the grass covered poo and wash the area.

It's better to be safe than sorry.

Many thanks for your help, Wendy

There are different types of parvovirus, and their symptoms vary depending on the type of parvovirus and the species affected:

Canine parvovirus (CPV): A highly contagious disease that affects dogs and other canids. Symptoms include:

Lethargy

Loss of appetite

Vomiting

Severe diarrhea, often bloody

Abdominal pain and bloating

Fever or low body temperature (hypothermia)

Puppies between six weeks and six months old, and unvaccinated dogs, are most at risk. If your dog shows any signs of CPV, you should contact your veterinarian immediately.

Parvovirus B19: Also known as Fifth Disease, this virus can cause mild symptoms in some people, including:

Fever

Headache

Cough

Sore throat

Rashes

Joint pain

Pregnant women, people who are immunocompromised, or people with hematological disorders are at higher risk of serious complications from this virus.

Parvovirus in children: Early signs and symptoms include:

Fever

Upset stomach

Headache

Runny nose

PADS POO BAGS

We are delighted to support PADS by selling their packs of poo bags.

Our latest batch has an improved design, quality and colour. Β£2 per pack of 50 is a brilliant price!

We have a charity chair in our main reception area.

Please leave your money in the jam jar. All the money that's collected is given directly to the charity. Last year we raised over Β£500. Help us beat last year's amount buying some poo bags.

So far this year we have raised Β£380πŸŽ‰

We love our swallows who come every year to nest in our stables. The second brood have just fledged and the family are loving zipping above the dog park catching insects. Sometimes they come for a play with the dogs too!

We had the pleasure to do an introduction session with this lovely young German Shepherd last night. Being able to offer him and his family a safe place to enjoy time together made us feel so good!

This beautiful dog can get excited when meeting people and dogs which makes people and dogs fearful. He doesn't understand why people cross the road to avoid him.

To build up his self esteem and confidence his family are going to bring their other dog and book two fields, Archie's and Mutleys. Mutleys will act as a buffer between them and the people using the wood.

This will give everyone space and hopefully as time goes on this young dog will gain confidence to enjoy his space and ignore the other dogs and owners. It also gives his owner reassurance that it's just him and his dogs.

We have many XL Bullies, , reactive and nervous dogs using our new system. Our quiet slots are also available for bookings if you're dog is easily distracted.

We are here to help just contact Wendy on WhatsApp 07950020820.

Tonight we met a gorgeous dog who is scared and unsure of free running dogs coming near him. He came with his mum, dad and his wee friend.

We were delighted to organise a quiet session where he could enter the dog park and run free in our woodland. His mum and dad said it was amazing!

Look how happy they are!

Just to let you know....

Over the next few months pigeon numbers are being reduced by shoots organised by a shooting agent on the farm adjacent to the dog park.

Our spaniels love it.... dashing about waiting on the pheasants falling

However not all dogs do! Please come prepared with distractions etc

The shots are no louder than the sound of shooting from Gleneagles we hear daily...it's just nearer. I didn't want you to get a fright!

Many thanks Wendy 🐢

Even a well-trained dog can scare other animals and people.

Many dog breeds were bred for hunting or herding, so when they see fast-moving creatures like sheep or cattle, their instinct might kick in, triggering a chase response.

Chasing by dogs can cause stress and injury to wildlife and livestock. What may seem like a playful chase can hurt vulnerable animals, especially if they're pregnant or have young offspring. If your dog causes harm or distress, you could face legal consequences, including fines.

Top tips for a stress-free dog walk:

🐾 It is safest to keep your four-legged friend in sight (so you can see what it is doing) - or on a lead - when you’re unsure if animals are nearby. For example, you may not see deer hidden in woodland or hares hunkered down in fields, but your dog will be able to smell them.

🐾 Invest time in training your dog to obey commands, especially recall. Socialise them with different environments and animals when they are young to help them learn appropriate behaviour.

🐾 Look out for calves or lambs in fields and where possible avoid walking your dog through these areas to stop mothers and young from becoming stressed.

🐾 Be mindful that others may not appreciate your dog running up to them. Some people are scared of dogs, and the other dogs you meet may be under-socialised and anxious.

We've installed a wee present for the dogs that use Archie's Freedom Field.

We appreciate that not all our visiting dogs can access Mutleys Play Park so we have decided to install various obstacles over the next few months so they can have their own obstacles too.

We hope they enjoy them!

Please spread this vital message to anyone you know with a dog!

JUST A REMINDER, TO ALL DOG OWNERS.

βš οΈπŸš™βš οΈ Despite the warnings, hundreds of dogs in the UK die every year after being left in a hot car. Someone you know may need to read this very important message. βš οΈπŸš™βš οΈ

SIX MINUTES is all it takes for a dog to overheat in a hot car.

Your dog could suffer serious injury or die in a matter of minutes if left alone in a car.

β€’ The temperature inside a closed vehicle left in the sun can double within 12 minutes.

β€’ At least 75% of the temperature increase in a closed vehicle occurs within 5 minutes of closing the vehicle, and at least 89% of the temperature increase occurs within 15 minutes of closing the vehicle.

β€’ Temperatures exceeding 104˚ F can lead to death or serious injury for the occupants.

β€’ Temperatures in a closed vehicle sitting in the hot sun can reach 160˚F and above. An animal will suffer immeasurably and may die before the temperature reaches 150˚F.

β€’ Even when parked in the shade, the vehicle temperatures can exceed 104˚C.

β€’ Leaving windows down more than 2 inches on an unattended vehicle will not prevent a car from reaching extreme temperatures.

β€’ Even if the animal is revived, they can die due to severe internal organ damage.

Your dog trusts you to have their best interest at heart ALWAYS.
Please don’t risk their safety.

If you are not taking your dog inside your destination with you, PLEASE leave them at home where they are comfortable and safe.
