🌟 Welcome to Wendover Park Equine Vets 🌟

A dedicated equine-only practice opened in 2024 to care for the horses, ponies and donkeys of Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and surrounding areas. We offer comprehensive first opinion equine veterinary services on the road backed up with a fully equipped clinic providing inpatient care, diagnostic and operating facilities.

The name may be new but Wendover Park Equine is built on the partnership between two long established practices – Wendover Heights Equine at Halton, founded in 1965, and Park Vets in Watford which boasts over a hundred and twenty years of history. The combined team of caring and professional equine vets, nurses and support staff have a wide range of experience and skills to give the best of care to you and your horses.
We work from both sites with Clinical Director Ben Wakeling and Senior Vet Charlotte Giles leading the team of five further vets, three registered veterinary nurses and an equine technician.
Equine Co-ordinators Michelle and Natasha will still be the friendly and efficient first points of contact when you need us while Practice Manager, Georgina Nixon RVN, will ensure the smooth running of the practice.

🌟You can find out more about the team, facilities and services provided on our new website - www.wendoverparkequinevets.co.uk. Existing Wendover Heights and Park Equine clients should have received a service letter informing them of these changes. If you have not yet seen this, please view the link attached www.whvc.co.uk/equine-practice-merge-rebrand.
If you have any questions about the merge please feel free to contact our office and we will be very happy to help.🌟

❗️️Please be aware of changes to our opening hours and phone service️ -
Our office opening times have now changed, our calls will be answered in the office between the hours of 8.30am - 5.30pm. We will be running our emergency service between 5.30pm - 8.30am Monday - Friday and ALL weekend.
We will no longer be in the Halton office between 8.30am - 1pm on Saturday mornings.
❗️For clients collecting medication, the main reception areas in the small animal department at both WHVC Halton and Park Vets Watford will remain open between 8.30am - 6.30pm Monday-Friday.
Saturdays - WHVC Halton 8.30-1pm and Park Vets Watford 9am-12pm.
For our branch surgeries - WHVC Merrilaw (Prestwood) and Park Vets Leavesden (Abbots Langley) please refer to the small animal websites for open times or ask a member of staff when arranging things to collect.

❗️The main office contact number remains the same for previous Wendover Heights Equine clients but is new for Park Equine clients. The original Park Equine number is being diverted over to our new number but please make note of this change.
Some of our clients who also have small animals, may have our small animal office number saved, please make sure you have taken note of the new specific equine number 😊

And finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our clients for their continued support and bearing with us whilst these two teams merge together.
We look forward to working with you all in the future to make sure your horses receive the best veterinary care possible 🐴

Kind regards
Georgina Nixon RVN + Practice Manager

Mini Mouse has passed (never in any doubt she wouldnt 🥰)

The lovely Cameron from Wendover Heights Veterinary Centre checked Mouses’ eyes, heart, lungs, temperature and teeth. She also assessed her overall health, condition, legs and checked her movement for lameness and was delighted to pass her with flying colours!!

Just the updated Council license and Insurance to wait for now and then Mouse will be able to start visting our wonderful care home residents and support clients through EAL

Oh and Molly and Nipper survived their vaccinations too 🙈🤣🤣

⭐️🐴 Meet Cameron Roker BA VetMB MRCVS 🐴⭐️

We would like to introduce our newest member to the team here at Wendover Heights Equine 🙂
Cameron graduated from Cambridge University in 2022, she then went on to complete an internship at Donnington Grove Equine Hospital, Newbury.
Cameron has taken a position as one of your first opinion, ambulatory vets and started with us last month.
She is particularly interested in lameness and wound management as well as emergency care.

Outside of work Cameron likes to spend time playing sports (mostly running, tennis and cycling) and enjoys heading into London to catch up with her friends.
Please join me in wishing Cameron the best of luck in her new role here with us and she looks forward to meeting all of our lovely clients and their horses 👩‍⚕️🐴

⭐️🐴 Meet Joana Pimenta DVM MRCVS 🐴⭐️

Joana joined the team back in January 2024, some of you may have already had the pleasure of meeting her 🙂

Joana is originally from Portugal and has been living in the UK since 2021.
She graduated from the University of Tras-Os-Montes e Alto Douro, Portugal in 2018. Throughout her last year of vet school, she did externships at the Equine Clinic De Morette (Belgium), the equine hospital at The University of Tennessee(USA), Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Lisbon (Portugal) and Hospital De Referencia La Equina (Spain).
After graduating, she completed a 15 month internship at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine University in Lisbon, Portugal. She then went on to complete a second internship at the Equine Clinic De Morette in Belgium.
Following her internships, she moved to the UK and started working as a first opinion, ambulatory vet at The Equine Veterinary Centre, Doncaster in 2021.

Joana’s interests are internal medicine and orthopaedics and in her spare time she enjoys swimming, going to the gym, travelling, socialising with friends and going to the cinema.

Joana has been a great addition to the team and I am sure you will all give her a very warm welcome to the area 👩‍⚕️

Our Primary Care Guidelines on equine parasite control, have been published in the latest issue of the Equine Veterinary Journal (EVJ), alongside a summary of the practical guidance and a supporting editorial. The Guidelines advocate risk-based, diagnostic-led treatments and the editorial calls for anthelmintics to be reclassified as POM-V medicines.

⭐️ We had a great time last night welcoming our clients back into our equine clinic, it’s been a long time since our last talk but we will definitely be back for more!

🙏 A massive thank you goes to Juliette, our Boehringer rep who delivered a very informative talk on EGUS - Equine Gastric Ulcer Syndrome and provided some very delicious food which kept us all happy!

It was lovely to get our team together and have the chance for clients to put some faces to names, especially for our newest members of the team, vets Joana Pimenta and Cameron Roker 😊
We were also joined by a few members from Park Equine Vets, Watford - Charlotte Osmond, Antonia Apati-Nagy and clinical groom Anna Collins who work alongside us to cover our out of hours service, so you might have seen one of them if you have needed a member of the team in an emergency 🆘
The evening was then wrapped up with a Q&A session answered by our vets 😊🐴

💬 We are interested to hear what our clients would like us to talk about in the future. We got some great ideas last night, but if you have any particular subjects that you would find interesting and useful, please comment below with your suggestions 💬

We look forward to seeing you all again very soon!

How can you not love a cheeky little ‘Shetland’ 🤩
Although the weather currently isn’t very suggestive of spring, Elliot’s behavior clearly is!
He belongs to our head nurse Hayley and I think you’ll all agree he’s pretty cute, if not a tad mischievous! Good job his field mate clearly isn’t the blindest bit bothered about his afternoon antics!

Happy Friday everyone, we hope you all go into the weekend feeling a bit like Elliot 🐴💨🤭
