Have a safe Christmas time with your furry friends 🎄 🎁 ❤️

As we get close to Christmas it's worth taking 10 minutes to do a little bit of preparation to avoid illness and drama over Christmas. We've done a little checklist for you and will be sharing information to help keep your dog well over Christmas.

These are all simple little jobs to do now that would make an emergency situation easier to handle. I also think it's a universal rule that if you prepare for a problem - the problem never comes up.

We hope you don't need to call your vets but knowing how to and where they are can make a big difference. You may also have free telephone vets on your insurance. Do you know that number and your policy number?

Your vet may experience difficulty with routine medicine prescription during times of closure and less staff working so check now you have everything you need to get to the first working Monday of 2025.

Checking dog tags have the correct numbers can help if you go away or if your dog gets spooked by fireworks etc.

If you need any help preparing a first aid kit or changing tags etc just give us a shout. We'd be happy to help.

If you are local to Stoke Mandeville and looking for a great place for your dog to hang out and have some spa time 😂 (in the muddy wet weather who doesn't love a clean pampered pooch??) please head over to Clips Dog Grooming!!

I took Ava there for a nail trim and the staff were fantastic when she started to shout, very loudly! They are kind, compassionate and professional. They calmed both me and Ava without ever being judgemental and that means a lot when you have a barky GSD!!

They suggested visiting periodically between trims to help with Ava's (and mine 😆) anxiety. We have been doing this.....

100% recommend!!

Five years ago, this business was just a dream and a garage conversation—and now, here we are! From spending 6 hours a day posting leaflets through doors, to countless late nights wrestling with a website, to falling head over heels for every single pooch, waggy tails, kisses as we groom, and snuggles, it’s been nothing short of an incredible journey.

Here, we’re always learning, educating, and growing—a reminder that if you have a dream, you can achieve anything with hard work and determination.

I’m beyond grateful for your continued support & loyalty—it’s because of you that we’ve reached this amazing milestone. Here’s to another 5 years of wagging tails, happy clients, and unforgettable moments. Thank you for everything! ♥️🙌🤗🥂

If you live in and around Berkhamsted and have a nervous pet, this new Veterinarian approach may help 😊

Ava and I know and love Sam! She is a brilliant trainer and we wish her all the best in this new venture.

💚Sam our client and patient care co-ordinator has been supporting pet owners with their veterinary care for 15 years.

💚She knows first hand what an important part our pets play in our lives and how owners value their relationship with their vet.

💚Sam is proud to be part of an independent team, offering a more stress-free service for both pet and owner.

💚Come meet Sam in person, and Katie the vet, at Cedars cafe on Sunday 24th November 10-12 and find out more about us and our new way of providing veterinary care.

As we approach autumn, leaves will start to fall and along with it can be a fair few acorns. 🍂

Did you know that acorns (and the entire Oak tree) is poisonous to dogs?
Here's the signs and symptoms of acorn poisoning in dogs. Be sure to save this post for later and share to raise awareness! 🐶

Good Morning Everyone! Happy Monday! New week, Fresh Start! Who’s ready for some hot temperatures!🔥🌡️

It’s a beautiful start this morning after a few heavy showers we had during the early hours. We will see lots of blue sky and sunshine today but a few patchy clouds may build up at times. Temperatures are expected to reach a hot 33° around the Chilterns! 🌡️☀️ At the moment there are a few heavy showers forming in the west so we are just keeping a close eye as the heat and humidity can cause thundery storms to suddenly appear..

This evening and tonight is a clear night to come , perfect to watch the Meteor shower and possible some more northern light activity… Nighttime lows of 12°. 🌙 💫

Tomorrow is a gorgeous day to come with blue sky and sunshine. Temperatures reaching 27°-28°, another warm day to come. ☀️☀️

Wednesday we will start of grey with some drizzle in places. As we head into the afternoon the clouds will start to break up. Temperatures reaching 24°:☁️🌥️🌤️

Thursday & Friday both look similar with sunny spells and fluffy clouds, staying dry with temperatures reaching 23-25°.⛅️🌤️

Saturday & Sunday yet again are very much the same with lots of sunshine and a few patchy clouds. Highs of 23°.⛅️⛅️

Pollen level: will remain HIGH all this week.

Have a wonderful day everyone, stay cool!

Watch out for more updates to come today☀️

With children and pets spending more time together over the summer holidays, it's super important to watch dogs closely and listen to their body language ⚠️

Dogs' stress signals often get misunderstood or missed, with some owners not realising their dog is unhappy until they growl, snap or even bite.

The canine ladder of communication is a useful guide, showing the different signals dogs show through their body language to communicate. As a dog gets more upset, their body language may change according to the steps on the ladder 🚦

It’s important to note that all dogs are different - not every dog will show every behaviour on the ladder and might not follow the same order.

[Visual description: An infographic explaining Kendal Shepherd’s ladder of communication and how to recognise stress in dogs by the signs they show in their body language. This is a traffic light system with red signals being the worst. Green signals are: Yawning, blinking, nose licking and turning their head away. Yellow signals are: Sitting and turning their body away, walking away, creeping and having their ears back. Orange signals are: Standing crouched, tail tucked, lying down with their belly exposed in a submissive way, stiffening up and staring. Red signals are: Growling, snapping and biting.]
