Why is straightness so important for a rider?

Everything we do in the saddle affects our horse, if we are crooked the horse is also going to be crooked. Asymmetries aren’t just about your seat, they’re also things such as fixing one hand and not using one leg as a well as the other. All of this contributes to the way our horses are going and often the problems we are having with their way of going come from us.

Why is it so important for a horse to be straight?

When a horse isn’t straight they will be putting more strain on certain areas of their bodies as the weight won’t be being distributed evenly thus making it far more likely for parts of the horse to breakdown over time. If the horse isn’t straight they will struggle to maintain their balance, rhythm and tempo.

The benefits of yourself and your horse being straight are endless and should be an absolute top priority in the training of any horse no matter their age or discipline. It’s one of the most important basics of training.

What to expect?

During each session you will wear one of the mapped out symmetry jackets & your horse will also have some markers too. We will assess you and your horses asymmetries through a matter of exercises & look at ways to improve them.

The clinic will consist of either an Individual session or a shared lesson of up to 2 riders.

I’m sure many of you will already know Susy and recognise her from the yard. We are super excited that she will begin with us from December teaching part time alongside her university commitments ✨

We are also super chuffed to have Lara back for a few dates throughout Dec & early January! It will be so nice having a familiar face back again 🤩

Things to note 📝

▪️Clear rounds will be limited to 1 round per person and these are entered at the gate on the day.

▪️No riding school PONIES will be eligible to enter any classes over 70cm.

▪️We will be operating a strict no extra entries on the day policy for our riding school ponies e.g if you’ve only booked the 60cm but want to join the 70cm on the day, this won’t be able to happen.
