🤗 How fantastic it has been to be back teaching you all after last week’s winter apocalypse! 👏🏻

We had a great time on Stable Management last night working on a control and steering exercise both whilst riding and leading our ponies. We also practiced dismounting on the off side and remounting independently.

We then learned parts of the saddle & bridle, revised different types of bits, practiced tying up using a quick release knot and learnt how to correctly assemble a bridle from scratch. We even had time for our ball game revision at the end! 🏀

Our next Stable Management evening will be held on Wednesday the 29th of January from 6pm - 7pm. Please get in touch to book your place. 🐴

Sorry for the later update than promised, it has been a busy day!

❗️Update on Monday evening’s lessons …

Unfortunately we will have to cancel tonight’s lessons. 💔 Although we have had a huge thaw today, there is still a decent amount of snow in the arena and it is causing serious ice balls to form in the ponies feet (they have all been out for a blast this morning). 😬 We also still have some big icy patches on the car park and on the lane. Due to these factors we don’t believe it is practical or safe to run lessons as planned.

Please fear not! We will be offering to reschedule your lesson from this evening to Wednesday, Thursday or Saturday this week when we will be 100% open again! Please get in touch with what day you would like to reschedule your lesson to and we will advise our availability and get you booked in.

You will be booked in for your usual lesson time next Monday unless you state otherwise, regardless of where we reschedule you to this week.

We know that this incredibly frustrating, however at least we have the promise of the week ahead being much better this time around. 🙏🏻

Thank you for your continued understanding and patience. ❤️

We have done all we can do … Throughout this weekend we have moved tonnes of snow (literally) and gritted the entire lane. There isn’t any more we can do now, the rest is up to the weather as we wait for a thaw.

We will confirm the status of tomorrow evening’s lessons by 3pm tomorrow. As of yet, we are unsure if we will be thawed out enough. Pray for a thaw! 🙏🏻

We are getting there and at worst we should be back open as normal by this Wednesday. 🤞🏻❤️

❗️UPDATE ON SATURDAY’S LESSONS. ❗️

⛄️ Hi everyone, unfortunately Saturday’s lessons will have to be cancelled as has been the case with all of this week’s lessons. We know that this is very frustrating for you, however there isn’t much we can do about the weather. We still have the same amount of snow up here as we did at the beginning of the week and it isn’t set to start thawing until Sunday. There isn’t an inch of ground that isn’t covered and the roads leading to us are still treacherous.

* You will be booked in for your usual lesson time next Saturday unless you let us know otherwise.

Tomorrow will be spent beginning to try and move some of the snow in an attempt to help it thaw out in time for Monday when we hope we can get back to normal! 🤞🏻Stay safe and take care this weekend. See you all soon and thank you for your understanding.💙❄️

❄️ UPDATE ON FRIDAY'S LESSONS. ❄️

⛄️ Hi everyone, unfortunately tomorrow’s lessons will have to be cancelled as has been the case with all of this week’s lessons. We know that this is very frustrating for you, however there isn’t much we can do about the weather. We still have the same amount of snow up here and it is getting colder by the day. There isn’t an inch of ground that isn’t covered and the roads leading to us are treacherous.

We are now very doubtful that a thaw will happen before the weekend, as temperatures are set to drop to -13 with us tonight … 🥶 We aren’t going to offer to reschedule your lesson, as realistically we don’t believe that we will be able to go ahead with lessons until next week now. 😢 If miracles do happen and we have a thaw before the end of the week, we will message you again to offer you the chance to reschedule your lesson.

You will be booked in for your usual lesson time next Friday unless you let us know otherwise.

Stay safe and take care out there guys. See you all soon and thank you for you understanding.💙❄️

❗️UPDATE ON WEDNESDAY’S LESSONS.❗️

⛄️ Hi everyone, unfortunately tomorrow’s lessons will have to be cancelled. We know that many of our Wednesday rider’s haven’t ridden since before Christmas and that this is very frustrating for you, however there isn’t much we can do about the weather. We have a huge amount of snow up here and we have been and are still having continuous heavy snow flurries. There isn’t an inch of ground that isn’t covered and the roads leading to us are treacherous.

We are now very doubtful that a thaw will happen before the weekend, as temperatures are set to drop to -12 over the next few days. 🥶 We aren’t going to offer to reschedule your lesson, as realistically we don’t believe that we will be able to go ahead with lessons until next week now. 😢 If miracles do happen and we have a thaw before the end of the week, we will message you again to offer you the chance to reschedule your lesson.

⛄️ Hi everyone, my apologies for not having messaged you all sooner, I know some of you have been messaging throughout the morning. We have been busy on the yard and sorting the horses out hence me only just getting around to sending this message out to you all.

Unfortunately tonight’s lessons will have to be cancelled. We have a huge amount of snow up here, there isn’t an inch of ground that isn’t covered (I’m sure most of you are in the same predicament).

We are unsure what the rest of the week will bring as of yet but we like to air on the side of optimism! We are able to reschedule your lesson from this evening to either Wednesday, Thursday or Saturday (weather permitting). Please let me know if you would like to reschedule your lesson and I will advise what lessons we have available.

Regardless, you will be booked in for your usual lesson time next Monday unless you let us know otherwise.

Stay safe and take care out there guys. See you all soon. 💙❄️

Hi everyone, we are absolutely gutted to say that we will have to cancel today's hack. 💔 We have been and assessed the roads going in and out and they are very slippery still and we feel that from a health and safety point of view for rider’s and horses that it is not worth the risk.

Due to the above, we are able to offer out 45 minute hacks at either 9.45 or 11am tomorrow in the same format as today (only it won’t be fancy dress). Please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to join either of the hacks and we will do our very best to reschedule you all.

Please accept our sincere apologies but it is the best decision given today’s conditions. 😢

⚠️ Rant incoming …

I cannot count the amount of last minute cancellations and no shows we have had on Monday and Thursday this week. These are the only two days we have been open so far this week and it has left us all bitterly disappointed with the turnout on both evenings. It is beyond ridiculous. 😡

I am now convinced that some think that whilst it is as cold as it is and with the holiday season still present that it’s much easier to stay inside in the warm rather than attending their riding lesson. We have had all manner of excuses this week (we know some are genuine) and I would like to think that it is not the case that some just can’t bring themselves out for half an hour or so to come to their riding lesson and will give any excuse to pacify us but I’m left with no other option this week but to begin to believe this. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Our staff and volunteers are all out in the cold, working hard to groom and tack up ponies on time, organising lesson plans and pony allocations just for people not to show up or to cancel. Some of which don’t want to pay for their missed lesson leaving us out of pocket and feeling a blatant lack of respect for our efforts and our business. We have a cancellation policy for a reason just like dentists, hairdressers and the vast majority of other riding schools up and down the country. We do not expect to have to ask to be paid for missed lessons and we certainly will not tolerate abusive messages when asked.

If you have chosen to ride as your hobby, please be prepared to show up and ride in all weathers. If we deem it safe and sensible to continue with lessons, then we expect you to show up when you are booked in, on time and with the appropriate clothing to keep you warm and dry.

As we have said previously, discrepancy’s will be made where possible for late cancellations but our policy stands at a minimum of 48 hours notice and your lesson will be payable regardless of the situation. We cannot offer spaces out at short notice and your lesson will already be planned and in some cases your pony will be stood waiting for you.

As always we appreciate those of you who turn up in all weathers, respect our cancellation policy and our business. We are human beings and always do our best to be compassionate and understanding with cancellations, however please understand that when we ask for payment in the event of a cancellation that there is a reason why we need to do this.

Please start making a note of your lesson date and time and let’s try and have a positive start to 2025. 💪🏻

Rant over. Thank you for reading. 🫶🏻

✅ We are open this evening as normal. The roads around us are fine and the arena is suitable to use. Please ensure you take care when walking past the arena, as despite throwing grit down some areas are still slippery.

Please remember your lesson and be on time!

See you all soon. 🐴
