Sorry everyone for the social media silence! 🙈

We have had a full on week with Stable Management and our first long hack of the summer whilst also running daytime & evening lessons as normal. 😰 Although it’s been busy, it’s been a really fun week and we have so much more coming up over the summer. 🤗

Thank you to everyone who attended Stable Management on Wednesday. Group 1 enjoyed a tricky pole work exercise followed by a masterclass on how to walk a course and understanding and walking related distances. Group 2 worked on their three loop serpentines (incorporating poles) for their riding practical and revised parts of the grooming kit, saddle & bridle, followed by practising putting on a head collar and safely tying up.

🔹 Our next Stable Management evening will be held on Wednesday the 14th of August and is already booking up quickly. You will not be automatically booked on, so please get in touch to secure your place.

Friday was another very warm day but we relished the sunshine whilst out on our 90 minute Novice Hack. We had a great adventure around the skyline of Shawforth and enjoyed some great views along the way. We hope you all enjoyed it! 🏇🏻☀️

❤️ An Ode to the Riding School Pony ❤️

I thought of you today,
when I crossed the finished line,
I thought of the hours we spent together,
the time spent wishing you were mine.
🐴
I didn't know before I met you,
how one ride can change your view,
but I hopped on board your back
and you proved that dreams really could come true.
🦄
But time moved on and I did too,
you knew this part too well.
A bigger horse, a younger horse,
you had no time to dwell.
🐎
Another rider needed you,
to light a fire inside.
A spark of passion that never dies,
a want and need to ride.
🐴
As time moves on and I spend my days
bringing home rosettes galore,
I think back to the time I'd run down the yard,
to find you at your door.
🦄
You really are the unsung champ,
behind the wins and titles.
Because in my career, a pony like you,
really was quite vital.
🐎
Thank you for all you did for me,
for inspiring me to want more.
Here comes another rider now,
running to see you at your door.
❤️

Words can never express how much we love and appreciate each and every one our ponies and we will be forever grateful for the work and service our ponies have provided us with over the years. This post is for all those wonderful ponies we have had over the years and to our family of amazing ponies that are with us now. ⭐️ ❤️

Well today has been an incredibly emotional day for all of us here at NA. 🥺 Tilly has now officially retired and has left for her new home with Rachel where she will enjoy an easier life and continue to be loved and pampered.

It has quite honestly been the hardest decision to make, but the health and happiness of our ponies will always come first, as it always has, and she is now ready for an easier life and a well deserved break. We cannot count how many of you have learnt to ride on Tilly, she has been one of our longest standing members of the family and has given so many of our rider’s so much pleasure and so many firsts. She owes us nothing and we owe her everything. ❤️

We wish Rachel the very best of luck with her and we are sure she will continue to enjoy her for many years to come. We want to thank Rachel for offering Tilly the best possible retirement home. She isn’t far away and we will still see her and get regular updates so it’s not goodbye.

Thank you for everything Tilly, you have a very special place in all of our hearts and we are forever grateful for the many years we have spent together. ❤️🦄

🎠 Bending, stepping stones and passing the baton is all part of what we did in our mounted games at last night’s Stable Management evening. 😀 Well done to everyone for getting so involved, we hope you enjoyed it. Mounted games are a great way to improve your confidence, balance and overall control as a rider.

We also did some more revision on Points of the Horse ready for our quiz next time. Please ensure you use the diagram given to you all to revise before next time.❗️🙏🏻

We also discussed the use of supplements and their uses in hard feed after learning lots about different feed types last time. For those of you who haven’t already purchased one, we strongly recommend buying the 14th edition of the Pony Club Manual so that you can read up and revise on all that we are learning when at home in the meantime. 📚

Our next Stable Management evening will be held on Wednesday the 19th of June from 6pm - 7pm. Please get in touch to book your place. 😊
