From the 1st November I'm going to be offering an easier tier system for grooms and also adding to what your dog will receive.

⭐️ Every groom AS STANDARD will include a deep cleansing facial scrub and massage AND teeth brushing where the doggy will allow. I want to make sure I am giving your pets the best all round care and value for money on your grooms. I also want to ensure my services are accessible for all budgets so tiered options help achieve this.
Not forgetting I am also now a 1:1 groomer so your dog has my full undivided attention throughout their visit.

⭐️ There may be a small unavoidable price increase to *some* breeds grooms, not all!!

⭐️ Dont forget, you can spread the cost of your grooms across the year into smaller monthly payments, making budgeting much easier. I will be slowly rolling out memberships for all my clients.

Did you know that we can offer IQA services if you already have your own academy?

Over the past few weeks we have been contacted by a number of academies that have found themselves in need of a qualified IQA since the new changes took effect with the AIM qualifications. Prior to the new qualifications, your academy could have an IQA that was in training to sample your students work, however to deliver the new qualifications you must now have a fully qualified IQA.

At Maplelu Dog Training Academy we are both Level 4 IQA qualified and are therefore able to offer our services to other academies that are struggling to find someone to help.

Good afternoon,

It is with great sadness that we need to let you all know that we have taken the difficult decision to close Maplelu.

Les decided during the summer break that, for personal reasons, she would no longer be grooming. Unfortunately at the start of the holidays Nic caught Covid quite badly and is still not recovered.

We have been having to cancel appointments as we just don’t know when Nic will be well enough to return which isn’t fair on you all.

The closure is with immediate effect so all future appointments are cancelled.

We have some fantastic recommendations for local groomers who have been helping us out over the past few weeks should anyone need them.

Thank you all so much for your support over the years, we are truly grateful you trusted your dogs with us, we will miss you all!

🐾🐾 Summer Holiday Closing 🐾🐾

We hope you are all keeping well and enjoying the sunshine, let’s hope it lasts!!

As we usually do, we will be closing the salon from Monday 14th August until Tuesday 29th August for our summer holiday and to spend time with our little and big ones!

We only have a handful of appointments left so if you haven’t got your groom booked and will need one before our break please let us know.

⚠️ The Salon is Closed this week ⚠️

We are sorry to inform you that we are closing the salon this week and all grooming appointments are cancelled with immediate effect - all clients due in this week have been informed.

Unfortunately we have been informed that a number of cases of parvovirus have been reported at the farm and after taking advice we will be deep cleaning our salon and closing for the week to ensure that any viruses/bacteria are killed.

We want to let you know that there are NO reported cases from the salon but as a precautionary measure and to stop the spread it is deemed wise to limit visitors and close the salon.

Apologies again but it is our number one priority to keep your dogs safe when they come to visit us 🐾🐶

We have put a package together to help you get through the summer months.

We know how much some of the dogs love playing in the water especially in the hotter weather. However the wet coat and towel drying can cause matting if not brushed out.

In the picture is the best matting spray we have used to date, once the coat is dry spray this on any matting use the slicker brush and comb to go through the whole coat.

If you can’t get the comb through the coat neither can we.

💡 When the weather starts to heat up, your dog can’t take his coat off and cool off. So this is one of the reason all dogs shed hair, especially during the warmer months. But shedding can be frustrating creating extra work for you!! 💡

The lovely Louie and Ruby came in for their pamper today with us, both came in and popped themselves on the table wanting to be first 😂

Their lovely Mum came back when they were finished with the nicest carrot cake to keep us going!!

We are so lucky to have such lovely dogs and clients! 💜🐶🐾

😞No shows and late cancellations😞

Sorry but this is a little bit of a moan!

Despite our posts and signs up at the salon, today alone we have had a late cancellation (1 hours notice) and a no show which equates to a loss of almost £100 of income as we can't fill those appointments at such short notice. We totally understand that emergencies happen and we will absolutely be compassionate in certain circumstances but when appointments are simply just forgotten about and no communication made it really isn't acceptable.

Last month, each week, we had at least one no show sometimes more!

We always send out reminders 48 hours before your appointment so this gives you opportunity to pop us a message to rearrange if you can no longer attend, this allows us to then fill these appointments with people on the waiting list.

We do impose cancellation fees for missed appointments but not everyone will pay them and would rather go to another groomer than pay us for the time we booked out for them.

We have kept your groom prices the same as last year and not increased them as we know how difficult times are and it's our way of helping - but we still have our overheads to pay when you don't attend we are at a loss, even more so since the costs of all our products etc have gone up!

The only option we have is to charge for grooms up front at the time of booking, which many groomers are doing now. We don't want to do this but if we continue to find ourselves losing income it is a route we will go down.

Please support us and just let us know if you can't make your appointment, a text message or phone call is all we ask giving us 48 hours notice.

From the 1st April we will now be charging an additional fee for the extra services that we offer, until now, when asked we have plucked and cleaned ears at no additional cost however sometimes this can take an additional 20/30 mins and also uses product and equipment which all costs. This will include ear cleaning, plucking, a**l glands etc. There will be an additional charge of £5 for each extra service.

We will also be enforcing our matting fee charges - they’ve always been there but very rarely do we add them. Unfortunately the cost of sharpening our blades has risen. When removing a dirty, matted coat it blunts our blades meaning they can’t be used and need sending off to be sharpened quicker than if being used on a clean, matt free coat. Matting fees will be between £5-£10.

We will always advise you when dropping off your dog if any additional fees will be incurred so you are fully aware of your groom cost before leaving your dog with us.

Our final weekend is finally here! We would like to thank all who have already come to say a farewell but we hope to see more of you this weekend. We are here both days 9am - 4pm. We will make no promises that our eyes will be dry but we will be happy to give and receive as many hugs, if offered! I think I can speak for the whole team, present and past, that it has been a privileged to serve you over the 24 years of being here and to have provided you all with some lovely memories at Farrowby Farm. So it’s goodbye from us and once again thank you!
