This handsome chap came in today as he had what is known as an Aural Haematoma (similar to cauliflower ear infection a human!)

An aural haematoma is a blood filled swelling inside the ear flat which is usually soft but hot to touch and causes a droopy ear. It develops if a blood vessel bursts inside the ear flap (pinna).

They most commonly develop due to repeat shaking of the head or over scratching the ear because of an underlying issue such as an ear infection, mites or itchy skin.

Vet Rachel and RVN Dale were able to insert a drain that will stay in place for a couple of weeks allowing Donovan’s parents to drain the ear a few times a day and provide great relief to him!

Donovan was a super brave boy and we are in love! 💕

🥳 Happy New Year from the out of hours team who rang in midnight with some 0% fizz and Mr Enzo who treated himself to plenty of chocolate! 🍫 (Naughty boy!) 🤭 Wishing all of our wonderful clients health and happiness in 2025 ✨ Edit: Enzo’s owner was very quick-thinking and got him to us with plenty of time to get his stomach emptied and he was able to go home and enjoy the rest of the new year’s celebrations with his family ❤️

🚀 BLASTIN’ BACK TO THE NORTH POLE 🚀 Today we said goodbye to Elfie & Eric after a month of adventure (and plenty of laughs in the clinic!). Eric was able to go through the door directly to the North Pole but poor Elfie wasn’t able to make it through… so he took matters into his own hands 🤣🚀 See you’s next year Elfie & Eric 💕🎄

🩸 ELF-ERGENCY ROOM: A Magical Revival 💉 Saving lives with a sprinkle of magic! Elfie popped on his scrubs and decided to perform delicate surgery on Eric overnight! As we know, all operations and anaesthetics are not without risk… thankfully Elfie acted quickly and with a bit of magical CPR, Eric is back to his usual mischievous self 😍

💩 A LITTER DILEMMA 💩 Eric has spent quite a bit of time at the vets this month and has seen plenty of cats using a funny little box as a toilet so he decided to try it out! Elfie was a little confused I think… at least he was on hand with the loo roll!

🎄 ELFIE’S NURSERY ADVENTURE 🎄 Elfie had a little out of office adventure today and snuck away with vet Diane to a nursery school! Thankfully he travelled safely and was super sneaky so none of the children noticed him! Eric took full advantage of Elfie being awol and had a lazy duvet day 😂

🍾 A NOT-SO-MERRY MORNING 🤮 Uh oh… Elfie & Eric weren’t very well this morning! They joined the Clare Vet Group team for our Christmas party on Saturday night at the Tullyglass House Hotel and needless to say they partied a little too hard 🤭 Hopefully some intravenous fluids and anti-sickness medication will sort them out and they will be back to causing mayhem in no time!

☀️ SUN-KISSED SHENANIGANS ☀️ Elfie and Eric were spotted today in the incubator topping up their tans! They must be getting prepared for the CVG Christmas party 👀😂 Hope Eric doesn’t fall in! 🤣
