When i was training sc******ng drop coats was my nemesis, i could never get it right!

Now theyre my favourite to scissor 😍 ps wondercoat spray on drop coats makes it MUCH easier to scissor 😁

Using coat repair generously on my lovely full coated briard i groom!

It doesnt leave a residue so still drys quickly but leaves the coat silky smooth :)

When the dog is bigger than you its important to remember we only have one back.

Charlie is a greater swiss mountain dog and there is no way im getting him on my table so i got comfy on the floor to dry him 🤣😍

Why is clipping nails important?

By leaving nails long it can actually start to deform the foot which makes it very uncomfortable for dogs to walk on.

When a dogs nails are this over grown i would always advise the owners to come 2 weekly or monthly for a few months to help get the quicks back.

Matt zapper for the win!

I wasn't sure on this brush to begin with as i usually use much bigger slicker brushes but im sold its incredible!!

Ive chosen it over my other brushes all week 🤣

I love a spaniel trim. ❤

We don't get many of them and I'm no expert (poodles and poodle crosses are my speciality) but i love this trim! Apart from a few knotts down the front legs she has a beautiful coat.

Dog grooming isnt all fluffy dogs and cuddles.

are presented with dogs like this pup who genuinely need our help. (Please no judgement we dont know the owners reasons) but here are my top tips for clipping off a severely matted coat.

➡️ Take it slow, the dog is likely going to feel very different and the risk of hematomas is high. Clip slowly, especially on thin skin such as the ears and tail.

➡️ Wet clip if you can (cordless clippers only!) When wet the coat is more elasticated therefore you can usually get a longer blade through for example a 7f rather than a 10f.

➡️ Use a blade spray to keep your blade cool.

➡️ Sign, Sign, Sign. It is important to get the owner to sign a matting disclaimer and talk through the risks BEFORE the groom.

➡️ Dont be ashamed to refer the dog to a vet or a more experienced groomer if you are not confident.

➡️ Keep the matting for a week just to cover your back and take pictures throughout the groom.

➡️ Use a soothing shampoo to help moisturise and hydrate the skin. The skin wouldn't have been able to breath for a long time so will likely be itchy and sore so using products for sensetive skin if important.

➡️ Lastly give yourself a pat on the back for making that doggie comfortable ❤❤

First puppy grooms are the cutest!

This pup had a few knotts so we had to do a nice maintenance trim but how cute is his face still!
